Well, the manga-ka really likes to take loooooong breaks, the reasons have differed each time from sickness to family issues, I haven't heard of anything serious, yet. Just watch the anime/movies until the next chapter comes out.

It's sort of scary that the manga has been running since before I graduated high school and still isn't done yet.

It's pretty annoying to be sure. But he likely has RL problems to deal with again.

If you think that HXH has been running for a long time try Looking up "Bio booster armor Guyver". that's been running since the 80's!

it's a good manga, and the guy who drew it also made Yu Yu Hakusho and married Naoko Takeuchi. their kids are either gonna be skilled mangaka or will want nothing to do with manga, and nothing in between.

tycho0042, lots of manga has been running since the 80's and earlier. It's not so much the time factor as Hunter x Hunter doesn't have a very complex story. He should really be finishing up by now. With that said, I liked the anime better, but on the whole Yuu Yuu Hakusho was a much better series.

Oh wow, then manga like Hajime no Ippo must be terrifying for you.

Not really.

That's called an 'intentionally marketed series to last forever so they publishing house can make lots of money'.

Agreed, hunter x hunter should have been done by now.
Just let gon and killua go and deal with the king ant and let's be done with it.
I couldn't get into yuu yuu hakusho personally, it started to feel like DBZ too much and since I was still watching DBZ when hakusho was airing it seemed redundant to watch both. I saw bits and pieces of the first arc and most of the dark tournament and wasn't terribly impressed. Dunno if it got better after that though

I wasn't watching DBZ at the time because I found it really dull, but I think for people interested in handsome men Yuu Yuu Hakusho had some attractive characters in the show so it kept me there longer. It's still a SUPER long series and drags out in some parts but I did enjoy certain eps of the show particularly Kurama's story. The movie is actually really good, so if you don't want to commit to the TV series and want to see what made it such a big show for so many people, that's a good place to start. (The 90 minute one, not the shorter one). I can understand people being put off by 100 episode + shows. I won't touch Naruto and I just watched part of Bleach until my favorite guy was gone (wow, that was just TERRIBLE from start to where I ended up). I like shounen manga/anime in general but it has some HUGE pitfalls, like enormous story arcs that go nowhere, dumb unlikeable protagonists and a tendency to go on forever when it should have ended ages ago.
