Eh, my school did have a uniform (far rarer to find a school that doesn't in the UK). It was mostly brown :P. So, I'm not too taken by the idea. Although some of the designs I've seen used in anime are neat. In fact, my old school's current uniform now rather resembles the one in the picture by mystic17, only with different colours.

(And to the person who mentioned skirt-length. Mine was an all-girls Catholic school and the uniform regulations were, technically, strict. But in the older years you'd quite easily find people who'd ignore it by having shorter skirts, different tops and whatnot. Though when I was in year 9 (so, 13) the height of rebellion was considered a) a petition to let trousers be worn and b) wearing black shoes rather than brown. )

My school already does. White shirt with navy-blue bottoms (bermudas (down to knee)) for 13-14 and long pants for 15-16), ties to be worn on Fridays, hair to be neatly cut (no highlights, hair that touches ears/collar/eyebrows gets a shitty haircut), shoes must be predominantly white, nails must be short, etc etc. Many animes have the sailor uniforms, the top with the bow, short skirt, knee-high socks/stockings, etc for the females, unfortunately I go to a single-gender school and most of the male uniforms in anime are all simple stuff.

I like uniforms though, you don't have to think whether you look like a retard in school with a certain shirt, although, if you do stupid shit outside of school that "offends" or "disturbs" a member of the public, they'll instantly know which school you're from and might write a (negative) letter to the press (also possibly including a photo, which can then get published in the newspapers) and/or school.

I did have a uniform when I was at school; it was hideous.

But I wouldn't mind wearing the one from K-ON! or even the one from Hidamari Sketch.

Aghh I used to wear uniform... It's not that great, the minute any otaku-girl in my old school would put her skirt up and try to look "kawaii desu~" or whatever the hell she said, the dean would drag her away leading to a huge shit-fit from the school board.

YAY REALITY!!! IT SUCKS, DOESN'T IT CHILDREN?

Most of the uniforms are ugly in real life just like cosplay, my school used uniforms just like almost every other school in my country, most of them are hideous and umcorfotable and i wouldn`t recommend. Consider yourself lucky if you study/ed in a school where you can just wear whatever.

I don't think I'd like to wear a uniform. Too much hassle to keep clean and neat, and I also like my pants. I have not seen one anime uniform that had the girls wear pants.

In Australia Uniforms for the most part are mandatory. Why anyone would ever want to wear one is beyond me. They are uncomfortable and a hassle to wear.
