I actually enjoy doing the whole gentlemen thing. Like paying the bills, opening her door, etc. It's fun for me...and I really don't see it as annoying. I find it cheap if the guy expects the girl to actually pay for anything. It doesn't matter if it's the 21st century, there are just things that are called manners. Are people trying to say that as our generations go on from the next, we become more...ungentlemen like or unlady like? Also...there are some girls that I know of who talk about it with their friends when their date expects them to pay.

Guys, if you want asecond date, you should pay for the girl. i know, everybody's broke, but really, guys! even if the girl dosen't mind paying for herself, she'll remember you as a gentleman, and that can only be a good thing. Don't be cheap losers, guys!

i like the color red. but youre right. i dont know where in the timeline red turned from love to lust. from heart to sex. really. some girls, you see the color on them and its just..wrong. but then there's a few where they wear it not to show eroticism, but rather because its a vibrant color that happens to excentuate the color of their eyes, compliment their dress, and just make them look beautiful.

Okay, the last 3-4 times I went out I didn't ( get to ) spend a penny, because each time I was in some male company who insisted on paying. Of course I don't really mind, as much as I don't mind someone holding the door open for me, but we discussed this lately, as a friend of mine started taking multiple girls out.

He isn't very experienced in dating, so we all adviced him. After telling him where to take her out to and where not, it turned out most of us suggested he should pay the bill, but some said something along the lines of "This is the 21st century, let her pay her bill, you pay yours. She won't expect you to pay anyway."

I'm not too sure about that. Though most women wouldn't really rely on someone else paying, I know they actually expect it. I even heard of cases, in which the girl didn't even bother to bring money. Emancipation is one thing, but on the first date, most people agree that the guy should pay.

What do you guys think? Not just about paying, I'm talking about the whole catalogue of gentlemen etiquette. Like being protective, seeing you home, holding the doors open, opening beer bottles for you, letting you choose the movie etc., etc.

I don't think it's a big issue, but some feminists are condemning it, like females didn't succeed in emancipation as long as everyone's expecting men to be gentlemen. Oh and is it annoying to men to always have to meet those expectations?

Theres not many guys like that anymore... who open the door for you or even slide the chair in for you when you sit down on a dinner date..

On the first date, a guy should pay, its the guy taking out the girl in the first place unless its the other way around.

Eversince when are dresses uncomfortable? o_0 Yeah, I think it's nice too, if both try to dress nice at least every once in a while, it's more fun Oh and I'm surprised red lipstick is not worn by more women. Sooo many guys make comments about how they love the lipstick and yet they act all surprised like it's uncommoon.

i think red lipstick is so gross.btw what is it with girls and the color red?
they always act, like it is the most sinful, erotic color, ever!
i find red just trashy and ugly.

You're a rare case then. I know a lot of girl think of red lipstick as trashy and that's why they don't wear it, but it's the classic lip color and it's the only color of lipstick I wear . I make sure it's a classy red though and and I've gotten a lot of compliments for it by men, saying it's damn erotic I really can't imagine how it'd look cheap unless it's a neon red-orange or something like that.

for some reason, i wanted to turn this into a feminism debate, like how do you fight for equality and still expect to be payed for and pampered. not that its my belief but i hear it often. lol but theres room for that on some other trend XD

There are too many scenario's that could apply here. I am only going to apply some of them.

One would be, are they both struggling financially? Because if both have an understanding of that, then both individuals would be willing to pay their half and sometimes one would pay for the bill and take turns. I don't think it would matter in those cases as I've seen ppl do that as well.

Another thing is that...It depends totally on the individual. Ive seen dates where the guy would get out of the car first and leave their dates behind to struggle to get out themselves. As well as not holding the door open. No ettiquite? it really depends on how you see it...people would see this more as, a female individual wants to be treated the same dont they? so there it goes. Others would look at it as, he should have helped her. If a man was struggling to get out of the car, who would help him vs a female individual? I'd say chances are less likely with the male.

Another thing is that people take the small things quite too seriously, I think. Talking about past versus present, there is a huge difference in how i was raised compared to how my little brother is raised. Maybe the Ettiquite we all thought used to be is, I think is truly fading out, and a new one is coming forth in this case. I mean ettiquite? wouldn't the guy ask the girl out? but nowadays it can go the other way....So who knows.

Seriously though, if someone asks you out....Always have the money to cover yourself. Its an insurance thing...and if you don't like the so called date....u don't have to go on another one with them. Keep things real and simple. Its better than holding things off and whatnot. And if your the one inviting the other individual, you should have money to cover both of you as well. So in a worst case scenario, just be prepared...least u wont get stuck doing the dishes to pay it off?
