Howdy from the Southwest ....I don't "hate" Sakura's character I just feel she's typical of most girls attracted to the quiet unstable male interloper. "Sheesh!"....she often more of an emotional obstacle and even with the truth staring her in the face...she chooses otherwise. As for powers and the healing arts..come on...it took getting her hair cut to finally develop a spine...I guess I'm sick of "damsels in distress character's"...peace

I think people need to give her a break. She is definitely not ,y fave character but she is okay. I kind of think she knows she used to be a jerk to Naruto and is trying to make up for it. Maybe she is just mental.

Why I don't like Sakura... Oh let me count the ways....

1) Useless in combat
2) Lets her emotions override better judgement any opportunity she gets
3) Puts her comrades in harms way because of her irrational decisions
4) Basically toys with other characters feelings to try to get her way

Definitely the actions you would expect from a lovesick tween girl... realistic, maybe.... doesn't mean have to like it.

As the wise JCossey says, she's a dang medic. What the heck is she doing running out by herself trying to attack one of the most dangerous / powerful characters in the show? (And not just trying to go alone, she goes so far as to incapacitate her comrades to insure they can't help!) There's so many great characters in the series, why does she have to force a fight between Sasuke and Naruto... *Grumble* *Grumble* would've been nice to see Shikimaru, Bushy Brows, and whats-his-name-with-the-dog get out and show what they're capable of, especially after Naruto just had the big fight with Pain basically all by himself.

As I said a few months back, I don't think Sakura sucks. Sure, she was really useless in Part I, but she had her important role. In Part II, the role expands and she doesn't get into a lot of the fighting because there's no point.

She's a medical-nin and that means she has to heal wounded. Her teammates often include a Jinchuuriki and people with Kekkei Genkais (either natural or second-hand), which leaves the young Kunoichi with not much to do but heal wounded.

Thanks for bringing up the medical nin thing cause a lot of people disregard that :3 Especially people who base their fandom solely on how many fight scenes the characters get, which I think is a little dumb.

I also want to add the fact that there is an obvious reason Kishimoto developed Sakura the way he did. Yes she may seem like a bitch for dogging Naruto and going after Sasuke like a hopeless romantic (which I admit is a little annoying) but it's all for a reason. Loneliness is a major theme in Naruto, if not the BIGGEST theme other than companionship. While Naruto and Sasuke experience loneliness in similar ways (having lost families etc), Sakura's loneliness comes from her conflicting emotions. After all she has been put into a pretty difficult situation, her team fell apart and the love of her life is a traitor. Her character represents loneliness in emotion and change. She's basically a living archetype in the series, if you want to look at it in an analytical level (lololol).

Oh one more thing (sorry this is like MEGA long) about the whole "dogging Naruto" thing. In part I she definitely represented the average villager the way she treated Naruto like poop. In part II though it's clear the two have gotten closer and she does have a "friendship" kind of love towards him. It's not like she doesn't care about him at all, like in the very beginning of the series. Kishimoto did this to help show Naruto's progress through the series as well as his and Sakura's developing companionship. Wether or not this will turn into Sakura having deeper feelings for him I'm not sure, but Kishi did say he wanted to focus more on romance in Part II though he admits it has been difficult.

I understand your rant, but I think I should explain a few things to you.

What Sakura did was foolish, but she was trying to be selfless. She didn't want anyone else to have to perform the deed, so she took it upon herself to do it, but she loves him so much that she couldn't bring herself to do it, which nearly got her killed. I'm pretty sure for a fact that Sakura would have destroyed herself if she did pull it off, and never forgive herself. It's clear Sasuke isn't meant to die, at least not yet.

She didn't intentionally force a fight between Sasuke and Naruto, she had no idea that she was being followed by either Naruto or Kakashi, and she was going to kill him and leave like that in theory. The reality is much different and it kinda went pearshaped.

You're talking about Kiba. Kiba and his dog Akamaru. Shikamaru might have been able to do some good, but I think Sakura didn't take him along because he would have outsmarted her, so she picked three people who were fairly good at fighting, but not the shapest tools in the box (that is Shikamaru). Sai managed to outsmart her though and it was he who informed Kakashi.

It just shows that rushed, poorly made plans don't end up well.

Sakura useless in combat? Sure it was ages ago, but she held out pretty well against Sasori and managed to avoid or neutralise his attacks and even managed to outsmart him at times. She's a Chuunin for reasons like these. However, her priorities are to heal wounded and that it what she does, leaving those who are a bit more specialised for combat to do the dirty work.

Indeed, she does let her emotions control her, but she's not the only person to do things like that. Look at the 4th Raikage, A.

She doesn't intentionally put her comrades in harm's way, she makes a misjudgement and one of her comrades decides to risk their lives for her. Her decisions aren't really irrational, they're just decisions that she thought would solve things once and for all/get the job done without having to risk others. Do you really think she would go along with her plans if she knew what the consequences of her actions were?

Sorry if it sounds like I'm having a go at you, but I'm not. I'm simply trying to explain things so people can understand better. I'm a man of perspective, so if you or anyone else criticises any of the Naruto characters, I will try to defend them, even if it's Madara, who I hate because he's evil.

I agree, the reason Sai was picked, was because he would pick up on her plans, she never truely attended to kill Sasuke, she was in a huge moment of weakness, to say you hate a character is big words, I dislike characters but don't hate them, each character has a point in a story, if they didn't then there would be no reason to bring them in in the first place even someone like Zabuza had a point in the story.

Yeah I mean I strongly dislike Madara, and yetat the same time I really respect him, like how he respected Hashirama Senju, his greatest enemy at the time.

Too true, Zabuza was killed off early, but he's clearly left his mark in terms of character popularity and he has kinda been a stepping stone for Naruto as he progressed in the early stages, and Sasuke too.

Also, there's the fact that in many shounen/even shoujo series, the lead female tends to give off a damsel in distress and seem to be there mainly for fan service sakes. However, while I love Sakura, I like Fairy Tail's Lucy more because she, to me, is hotter and has been shown to be in more active battles versus Sakura.

I dislike her cause she's weak, not physically, but mentally when it comes to Sasuke. Seriously, she keeps hurting Naruto again and again. Like sai pointed out before, that promise she made with Naruto obviously did hurt him, despite the fact that he was already going to save Sasuke. Then, she lies to Naruto and says that she's over Sasuke and likes Naruto. Even if she did it cause she thought that was the best decision, it was as if she was insulting Naruto and his feelings for her :/
Well I'm not caught up to the latest episode, so that's all i've seen so far.. but I'm sure she'll do some other reckless thing to hurt Naruto again..
