Blazblue is my fav. Characters have their own stories, there are funny gag enddings, and the beautiful openings/intros.

Agreed! I adore the character designs and especially how most of them have crazy, reverse high heel metal type shoes. The character designs set up some great fun and challenges for potential cosplays too. ^w^ Everyone's weapons and attacks are pretty interesting too.

The fighting game that I really like that most people actually seem to hate is Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe.
That thing that people hate it for is that there is no blood in it and I think that is a pretty lame thing to hate a game for.

Another one is Mortal Kombat 9 which is an amazing game and is full off blood and gore just like the other MK games. Fun to play all the different modes and unlock all the lockable content that is in the game.

No, the reason people hate it is because it has awful tech and is a completely clunky fighting engine.

Back to the matter at hand though, if you're into Street Fighter, you are likely more used to creating combos using links. On top of that the combat engine is designed squarely around your primary fighting game fundamentals. If that's your playstyle I would suggest picking up King of Fighters. While it is a bit less strict about certain things, you'll feel more at home with the central style of gameplay.

Of course if you're looking for something a bit different then you should take a look at BlazBlue. Combos are formed using chains, a system far less strict than the fighters you are likely used to. The game is a bit more fast paced, and all the characters utilize very unique and interesting gameplay mechanics.

Tekken Tag 2 is fun and is the main fighting game I play. Blazblue series has great storytelling (and hilarious Kokonoe/Teach Me, Ms. Litchi segments), just bought DoA 5 and am still adjusting to its system, but I'm enjoying it so far.

BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extended (BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma is in the works hopefully for NA), Skullgirls, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Soul Calibur 5, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Dead or Alive 5, and I think that's it for good fighting games in my opinion.
