Just off the top of my head,Yotsuba has green hair... So with her in mind, no.

Although i've never really noticed it before, i guess they could have some meaning...? I'm not sure.

Now that you mention that, I remember Eureka had green hair too, so i'm guessing its the unique trait.

The answer to this question can be found on the Color-coded for your convenience trope. it is the visual indicator of the character's personality and often it is stereotypical.

This proves I'm right then. By the way, I forgot to mention orange haired girls, they're usually the annoying ones.

Lol.., I think most likely green means they are shy? in Midori No hibi, main character has green hair and she is pretty shy, although she gets hyper when she is on his hand.. lol

While the TV trope name may be recent but this color coded character concept had been around ever since the early 80's.

You'd be surprised how difficult it is identify the character's personality at first glance when it is not color-coded.

Silver= all the cool types. But there's ALWAYS something wrong with them.

Black=handsome, cool. Or you get the funny and ridiculous ones.

Pink= narcissitic weirdos.

Brown= usually the background people, you know, the ones that you never notice?

Blue=egoists.

Blonde=narcissitic AND egoists. JOY!!!!

Orange/red/bright yellow= hot headed. Brash. Numbskulls

Now, there are exceptions to every rule. I'm just basing these off of some of the charas I know. I'm sure each of you can match an anime chara to SOME of these... -_-'''

It's the main and/or important characters who seem to get the odd hair colours and styles in anime. Or if it's a universe where no-one has normal hair colour, then there's some other characteristic which makes them stand out. YuGiOh's lead comes to mind, for what is it, 3 colours?

It came up on The World God Only Knows in one recent episode, with Keima protesting that his current target has the ordinary hair colour, appearance and personality of a background character, or at best a friend of the lead who plays little part in the game. Indignant at the real world, as per usual.

True, true. Looking back at my lifetime "viewing history" of anime, I can see the disparity:

Ranma 1/2 (early 90's)

Dragon Ball Z (late 90's)

Everything after (mostly harems)
