Do not let agitation take hold in your heart, or you risk becoming just as they are. People do evil things, regardless of what they say they believe. Their evil behavior plainly shows they have no understanding of the God in whom they profess to believe. A primary part of religion, from what I can gather, is about peacefully living with God and people. If that "church" cannot respect others, then they are making no attempt to live peacefully with either. Overall, consider that all should not be blamed because of a few in any circumstance.

Wannabes. If they really cared what the Bible said, they'd spend their Sundays murdering anyone who works, murdering homosexuals, and bashing immigrant babies on rocks, because that's what the Bible actually tells you to do.

Considering how the very core of the Bible is written around hate and racism, I'm surprised there aren't more groups like this.

They aren't called Wannabes, they're called Christians.

Out of all the Christians that talk to me about their religion, not one of them is interested about mine.

Whats your religion o:

On topic:
I'm a christian and I believe that these people are giving us a bad name. I think its dumb to make people believe but its more about trying to help and if they dont want it let them be. The bible is more of a guide to life and you should make people do things, let people be its their choice.

Can't lump a few bad apples with the whole.
They can only be a "family" church. Maybe a small group of families going to that church with similar beliefs.
It's almost cult-like when I think about it....
If they were truly christ-like(christians) then they would pray for their enemies, not harass them.
Thats what I do. They need to CALM DOWN and take a look in the mirror.

Oh, a topic that focuses on the flaws of a religious group. How original. How exciting.

The Bible is not all that bad. Sure it starts out a little rough; but whatever you want to say about Christianity as a religion, the teachings of Jesus (whether you believe he existed or not) are sound. They are similar to the core principles of any religion that seeks to do good.

As Buddha said, "Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense".

Jesus spoke about very obvious and natural human morality. Some Christians like to paint him white and pick over his words, but that doesn't invalidate the entire message.

@ Dropplet;

To answer directly-I follow Jesus; but the weight of what that means is more than I can blurb in a forum post this late at night. Others may call me a Christian and that is fine, though I don't know if we live in an age where all the connotations of that term align with who Jesus is.

If you "follow Jesus", you're a Christian. Doesn't really matter if you've decided you don't like the organized religion based on him if you still believe in it. Or perhaps there's a particular sin you feel you can't avoid so you deny your religion so you can feel better about yourself; are you gay?

Christianity hasn't aligned with who Jesus was from the very start; it has always bred hate and laziness. Machiavelli disliked religion for good reason.

Well I for one think they are awesome.
Not because I agree with their message in any way or form, but to me, a traveler, they color the bland sides of the road as I stare out my window. Sticks & stones, kids, as you can clearly see, their words fall on deaf ears anyway, so why not enjoy the spectacle?
I'd start waging bets on who beats em up first by when

"For reals?" You've never actually read more than the last post, nor any literature apparently. Having strong religious views leads many into feeling malcontent towards people who reject those views. I'm not even atheist, but calling me stupid and a douche bag pretty much proves the point. Well done! You're a sharp lad.

P.S. You probably shouldn't call anyone stupid when your spelling and grammar are horrible.

Real Christianity has nothing to do with hatred... The same way real Islam has nothing to do with terrorism...

Islam does have something to do with terrorism. Most Muslims aren't waging jihad, but is written plainly that they should be doing so.

God commanded more than one genocide in the Old Testament, but that was descriptive.

In Islam however, it is prescribed to eternally kill or enslave kafirs.

On another note, the Christian god is a very hateful one. He murdered nearly everyone on the planet by drowning them because they wouldn't obey. Then Nimrod lead his great society to success and told his people that they had earned their rewards by the sweat of their brow rather than it being a gift from God. He built the Tower of Babel so they would have protection from God murdering them all again with a flood, and God retaliated by making them all speak different languages for the purpose of dividing the human race into sects so that they couldn't succeed as easily.

Worshiping and following the footsteps of a being that is repeatedly described to destroy everything he disagrees with: if that isn't hateful, I don't know what is.
