I'm sure that all of you are aware that the manga company Tokyopop's American website has been shut down today. (that also means no more translated manga and manwha from them)The offices in Germany will still be open. But it is not the same without them. They had a bunch of good manga and some didn't finish publication. We still have Viz Media, Seven Seas Entertainment, and Yen Press (and among other american manga companies). But enough about that. It has been 14 years since they started back in 1997. It doesn't feel that long, does it? Time goes so fast, and so many things are changing. I've collected quite a few manga titles and I really liked that company, and I like how they put together for each volume of every series.
This is one of the saddest news in manga, and fans will miss them. Same for me. I wish they would've been around for longer, but I guess not. When you try to go to their website, you will be redirected to their Facebook page. They will be greatly missed, and nobody will ever forget them. What are your thoughts about this? Also, if this is a duplicated please lock it. Thank You.

It was bound to happen in the end they have not picked up any real major titles in recent times since other companies already had them. Big shame but all their big titles will be picked up by somebody else anyways so we won't have to wait long for them to keep getting published. Unfortunate but that's the manga buisiness these days.

As usual news arrive late at Crunchyroll. This was news over 2 weeks ago.
Still, RIP Tokyopop even though I barely bought any manga.

So long and thanks for the fish.....err....manga.
Frankly speaking, I still have a bad taste in my mouth on TP from it's Mixx days, granted I'm dating myself......
Don't get me started on the "fun" names I made out of Tokyopop.

I haven't read TokyoPop manga in the last 1.5 years except for the older titles. However, while it tanked in sales but didn't get the second ending/re-vamp/retcon, I thank them for bringing Cyborg 009 here.

I've just got to thank TokyoPop for getting America started on reading manga from right-to-left.
