I'm new to the forums here, so I'm sorry if I'm missing something extremely obvious... ^_^;;;

I was wondering why some series have oddly interpreted names... For example, Sengoku Otome is much more descriptive and cooler sounding than "Battle Girls".

I figured someone must have asked about it in the past, so I thought I'd check the forums, but I can't seem to find the search function.... Is there such a function?

the search function should be to the right of your user name on top of the page as for the show names I think that has to do with the people Crunchyroll gets the shows from, in case something like the show getting licensed for an English dub or something along those lines.

There are a few reasons a site would use translated names for series... Generally it's either because the series is already licensed for an English release (Demon King Daimao, Blue Exorcist), there is already a recognisable English name available (The World God Only Knows, Reborn!), there is a simple direct English translation available (Squid Girl, My Ordinary Life), or because CR was given an English title by the company it licensed it from.

I believe Battle Girls fits into the last category.

Sometimes CR also combines English and Japanese names to make the names more understandable to an English audience.
