This show is a good example of why America can't really handle animation as a serious subject. The fact they had to create a term like "Brony" and treat it like some empowering statement to basically say "I'M A MALE WHO WATCHES GIRL CARTOONS". And quite frankly, as someone who watched Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura and belong in a communicty who routinely watches a plethora of shoujo and josei anime: Be quiet. All you're doing is drawing attention to the topic at hand and acting like it deserves to be treated with any amount of dignity when any true adult would understand that not caring about a show's demographic is key here. The fact you're making up a word to call yourself and your friends who watch a certain show is just drawing attention to what should ultimately be a non-issue anyway. That's why shoujo and josei fans do not do this. It's just another anime show to us. It's a good example of why there's virtually no cartoons for girls, and when there are, it's usually based on a doll line like Barbie or My Little Pony. The fact they have to treat the very idea a girl's cartoon like some inside joke or internet meme (and not even a good one, the show is horribly basic and typical pre-school fare) is a good thing too look on and see "Yeah, America still isn't ready for this"

I love this show! and me being the age I am shouldn't change the fact that I watch a show about ponies. I feel like being 5 again :3

I really loved the show.

My Little Pony G4 is the best the other generations suck though XD this is probably my favorite cartoon, it even sits at the tip with Evil Con Carne and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy

I pretty much agree to everything you said, it really isn't all that special.

The reason for the shows popularity though is that it is actually a pretty solid show, and it is very easy to create fanart for.

yeah, because of all the annoyances certain "bronies" have been all over the internet, people assume everyone who watches the show is like this

i used to be part of a thread on facepunch where we sometimes discussed the show, it got closed down though and we were forced to create our own forum broni.eswhich is quite sad.

I'll never watch that.

As much as I enjoy the show, I want nothing to do with the fanbase...lol
Its a good show, but some people take things waaay too far. (The same could be said about any fanbase, really...)

The show is really nice and the fanbase is not bad. People are just focusing on the bad part, which isn't any different then animefanbase or any other fan base. They all have their dark sides. I say give the show a try, watching anything past the first episode, and if you don't like it then that's it.
