Sluts?
Posted 6/6/11 , edited 6/6/11
How come girls who wear short skirts and show off their legs get called sluts, but a guy who works out all day in a gym getting all ripped and decides to wear a tight t-shirt all the time doesn't? I know for sure some men do it just to attract women (I see it all the time in night clubs) but then they aren't called anything.

I know there are some girls wear short skirts and low cut tops soley for the purpose of impressing boys, but I swear there are some girls who just like wearing these clothes because they genuinely like it and don't have the intent to buy it just to be a "slut"

Plus, I remember when in school, a girl I knew lost her virginity earlier than others. She wasn't the type of person to sleep around, but then she got called a slut because she lost it early. I know kids these days are losing it early but how come the girl has to be called a slut and suffer yet a boy is congratulated or just not called anything. I think the same goes to adults aswell, if a women has had a lot of sex she's a slut, but if it's a guy he's a player.

Think about it, James Bond sleeps with every chick, but it's okay, everyone loves Bond. If it was a woman protagonist sleeping with all the men, trust me she'd be called a whore.

This is more of a question than a rant because I'm a bit confused. I'm just asking for your opinion on what I said.

Sorry if what I said sounds stupid.

It doesn't sound stupid, its stupidly true though. :(

Yes it can be unappealing to see a girl looking revealing but its their choice and if they want to attract the wrong attention then its entirely up to them. Over-bitching about skinny girls who have great bodies and choose to be proud of them is a dead giveaway that they're jealous. If you go it, flaunt it.

no your right on the money but it goes even deeper than that. What pisses me off even more is that it's okay for guys to score around with 5-6 ladies in his lifetime "by social standards" but if a female does the same thing then she is "a slut whore with loose legs". I could go on for hours on how stupid our culture or "civilized culture" in general is on this but it pisses me off to much to do so. I will point out one more thing though that pisses off and that's the hard core otaku in japan, if a anime character or voice actresses is not "pure" they will drop the anime or send death threats to the va because of her life style. It's okay though for a guy to poke every girl in the show however... aye I have said all I am going to on this man.. it just ticks me off to no end when I do think about it.

Society is enamored with the "Madonna-Whore" dichotomy. It's perfectly acceptable to sleep around if you are a man, because your nature is to sew your oats, spread your seed. Women are supposed to bear children and tend house. Men are always interested to sleep with the "whore" but he won't marry her. He wants to marry the wholesome, pure "Madonna". A girl he can bring home to mum and the family.
I think the solution lies only in withdrawing the power of the word, "slut". If a confident woman decides she wants to dress provocatively or enjoy sex frequently, and some wish to call her a "slut", then the only thing to do is wear the label proudly. Words have no power if we change the interpretation. I am a slut. I am proud to be one. I enjoy sex. I am not ashamed. Sex is as natural as eating.
As far as men's interpretation of the word goes, the one's who use the label "slut" (in my experience) are the first one's to jump in bed and sleep with one. Therefore, are you not a "slut" by association? Ah, the confounding nature of humans.

It's probably just lingering sexism. That or hold over ideals from earlier ages. Although that is less likely than the first proposition.

A key that opens many locks is a master key, a lock that's opened by many keys is a bad lock.

Just something I read

Society today is complicated. People seem to mature faster mentally compared to the old days. Plus, our morals have completely shifted. This can be said about us young people. However, I have no reasonable explanation to why girls are called sluts from random reasons. I personally dont like loose women since I believe in traditional japanese ethics like sex after marriage. That being said, slut is just a word and words arent physical things.

I was wearing a revealing outfit out once and this girl said to her friend whispered to her friend "Oh look at her what a slut", I heard her, thought nothing of it and walked on. She was overweight so its obvious she just died of envy right there. It was Halloween, give me a break! I'm ALLOWED to dress like a whore sheesh bitch....go on a diet if you're so insecure! Don't bitch about fit, healthy women.

Just another double standard thanks to sexism really.

What's really annoying though, is that most of the time, it's not men calling women sluts, it's other women, and usually for nothing related to sex at all. A girl who happens to have a nice body, a flirtatious personality, or who just happens to be with the guy you like is NOT a slut. Ladies, stop hating on each other. While we may complain when we're called sluts, I bet all of us, on several occasions, have called other women sluts for no good reason.
