You could say it is social stigma that we haven't fully recovered from yet.

For hundreds of years women have been suppressed and deemed unfit to decide anything of importance, in some cases even what to make for dinner.

Why? Because at one point in human history, we had to change. We went from being fully synced with nature and cherishing it, living in societies where all were equal. Burdens were shared and there was no "this is only for men" and "only women" jobs. (Side note: In hunter and gathering societies, women obtained most of the food). Material goods didn't really mean anything to us, you could say humans were one with nature.

But as I mentioned, at one point humans had to change. The reason most seem to favour was that the environment got much harsher, this forced humans to think more deeply than they used to (Before humans just lived in the "now") and be more creative with traps, ways of harnessing nutrition from mother nature and how to generally survive.

You could say this was the birth of the Ego, and with the ego came the spiritual loss and sense of incompleteness. Humans also began to view nature and everything natural as something hostile and to be defeated and tamed. This included especially women, who are seen as the closest to nature, seeing as women give birth to new life. Man grew disgusted with things that were natural, like menstruation - which men began to view as corruption. So men began suppressing women and destroying all symbolism that favoured of natural things.

Archaeologists can confirm that at one point of history, the statues of curvy women stopped being made, and even were destroyed. This you could say is the war against the natural things. A common symbolism for "man's victory against nature", are stories of knights defeating dragons.

Wars became more common at this point too, conflicts arising everywhere due to the Ego's craving for power, material goods and whatnot - in order to try and feel complete and satisfied.

I could go more in detail, but sufficient to say that at one point things started changing, and we became more friendly towards nature and natural things again. Though I dare say this doesn't go for all cultures, as I believe there are still cultures hostile to natural things.

And whilst things have slowly become better, there is still stigma/resistance towards the new things. Like trying to accept that women want to dress as they want and not be judged or condemned by their dressing style.

There was not too long ago in Canada, a "Slut March", which was basically a protest against a Police Chief who had told women to "stop dressing sluttly". The protest march was also a symbol for the government and everyone else that women want to be free, dress as they please and not be treated as someone lesser.

There was recently a similar protest march in Oslo, the capital of Norway as a reaction to the increasing amount of raping and generally men being too touchy and mistreating women (and men) just because of their way of dressing.

While it is true to how you dress send social signals to others, there is such a thing as acting like a proper human being - and being properly integrated into a new society where the social norm for how you may cloth yourself is different.

Most of this I learned from "The Fall: The Insanity of the Ego in Human History and the Dawning of A New Era", which is a good book about the human Ego, before - during - and after the psycho-changes, it also has a lot of references and backs up its information with legit sources.

And I'll be honest, even though my post is very long (especially by Crunchyroll standards) I skipped A LOT OF the information I could have shared. But I doubt most of you are even interested in the development of the Ego and how humans evolve from what we were and what we are becoming.

Well, I guess nobody is perfect. But I have the right to post my thoughts and ask for opinion. Funnily enough, you're bitching aswell.

I apologise for the double post, I won't do it again.

I read all of this and I found what you said extremely interesting, I would never have read it (nor understood it) if I didn't study psychology. I will be buying that book you mentioned.

What's so hard to understand? It's called a double-standard and unfortunately society is too dumb to realize it.

Ahh the old double standard;
A girl is a slut while a guys a stud for doing the exact same thing. Like how being a cougar is soo controversial but it's acceptable for a ninety year old man on a breathing apparatus to have an 18 year old wife There isn't even a term to describe them.

The worst case scenario is when a rape victim is accused of 'asking for it', because of what she was wearing.

Thats just the way society is. Things that are acceptable for males arent for women. An example could be masturbating, why is it okay for guys but not girls?
I dont think it's right, it's sexist.

Society today is complicated. People seem to mature faster mentally compared to the old days. Plus, our morals have completely shifted. This can be said about us young people. However, I have no reasonable explanation to why girls are called sluts from random reasons. I personally dont like loose women since I believe in traditional japanese ethics like sex after marriage. That being said, slut is just a word and words arent physical things.

Most girls today dress like sluts (which may include percings and tramp stamps) and some of them are too dumb to know it, but are told "it's cuuuute".

Now I totally agree about the guys arugement. I guess in our case we're...um..man-whores? Dogs? Pigs?

It's the image we put on ourselves, in a way, which is usually the image we get from others. Plenty of girls think sex hurts, classy girls don't want it, only bad girls want it, ect ect but that's mostly old school stuff, so if they see a girl acting like a hoe they automatically think she's bad. That's just how they were raised. Plenty of guys think having all the sex they can makes them heroes or something, which is the mainstream belief, so if a guy can score a lot of sex it's considered an accomplishment. Ugh... To be honest, I can't stand these guys either, they are such douches most of the time. So either way, sluts are just attention whores.

Oh, and the reason some girls are more prone to calling other girls sluts is because of jealousy, but that's a girl thing and I can totally get it. Why would a girl dress like that in the first place though?

Sexism, and they used to treat women like sex machines, slaves and sandwich makers.
And also, the behaviour of some girls are SO BAD they're called sluts.

There are many sluts at my school... MANY. Guys can be manwhores I guess.
