Texas movie theater makes an example of a texting audience member

Ever been annoyed by a loud-talking patron at a film? Had that nail-biting darkened hallway scene ruined by someone turning on their phone to send a text? Well, one Texas theater has your back.

Alamo Drafthouse, a local chain of dine-and-screen movie theaters in Austin, Texas, has long waged a war against impolite moviegoers. And the latest customer to object to their firm rules against talking and texting during an evening out has become the unwitting star of a PSA released by the company on Monday.

In thailand, if you use your cellphone in theaters, it's like, a 500$ fine

Good, it is very annoying to see random lights pop up and voices while watching a movie.

Fair play.

I didn't think mobile phones going off in cinemas was much of a problem. Then again, I live in the UK.

Nice to see someone getting serious about this kind of thing.

As a matter of fact, having your phone on vibrate IS bothering others because the people down the row from you can see your fucking screen light up, you dumbass.

This is a fact. I was at a movie theater to see a local version of SyFy's Ghost Hunters and the god damn girls to my left in the middle of the row were obviously texting the whole time. I could hear the phone vibrate occasionally but every time they went to look at it the screen light up and I immediately turned my head to see where the light was coming from. Every time! The movie was good though.

People who whisper into their phones are also irritating because they whisper louder than most normal people talk.

Texting and talking on the phone in movies suck what was the point of paying $10-$12 to see movie just to talk or text and not even watch the movie

Ugh those kind of inconsiderate douches annoy the hell out of me. If you aren't interested in the movie walk out. And if you are two self centered to understand cinema watching etiquette you deserve to be trashed with stale pop corn.

My only problem whenever I went to the theater was all the kids. I have siblings and they are quiet as...as...MOTHS!
People can't even keep there kids seated for like 2 minutes. All throughout the movie you can here,
"Momma, can I sit with you? Mama? MAMA!" or "Gimme some of your popcorn. GIVE IT TOO MEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Bumping into my seat and the worst part is it isn't your kid or bro/sis so you can't really say anything to them with getting rebuked.
T,T makes me wanna wait til it comes On Demand

Yes, we shall text the COPS about a fire.

That is an extreme and does not apply to everything being said.

Be logical. If the theater catches on fire, alarms would go off, the police AND fire trucks would come and you can leave the area. THEN you can text anyone you want.
