Anime I have looked at are: Death Note, Hajime No Ippo, Historys Strongest Disiple Kenichi, Code Geass, Naruto, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, Rurouni Kenshin, Blood +, Elfin Lied, Flame of Recca, One Piece, Rahxephon, Kiba, DGray-Man, Hunter X Hunter, Great Teacher Onizuka, Heroic Age, Mushishi, Devil May Cry, Hero Tales, Tenjou Tenge, Yu Yu Hakusho, Serial Experiments Lain, Crono Cross, Trigun.

I'm just basically looking for something new to watch that will capture me as good as ones like Death note and Code Geass, I also really liked Hajime No Ippo and Historys Strongest for other reasons.

Something that has a nice compelling story is good, also good fight scenes is a plus but not required, depends on the anime.

So can anyone recommmend anything good?

I'm looking for something that has humour but has a serious or dark plotline. Something along the lines of anime like Reborn, Air Gear, Black Blood Brothers, Kekkaishi and Gakeun Alice. Any genres are fine.
And please don't recommend the more popular animes like naruto, bleach and d.gray man.

You should seriously try Tsubasa Chronicle, which is super awesome and matches totally your desired genre of anime, wat's more it is made by clamp. And maybe Shugo Chara, Rental Magica, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Gakuen Alice, Night Wizard The Animation, Full-metal alchemist, Zero No Tsukaima.

Errr, I would suggest to you Eureka 7 (lots of mecha, action, comedy, and fantasy) Also, if you're really have the patience, watch Inuyasha--but the ending is horrible, and it takes forever. (There are 2xx eps) yeah... Both of them are licensed in US, but it's still very good... OH! And also Fullmetal Alchemist and Death Not. That's licensed too though. Haha.
