Applecri wrote: OK. I've been, for the longest time looking for an excellent anime. Nothing that's along the lines of ecchi, harem or mecha. Ecchi-harem-comedies I would like to wipe off from the face of the earth. But I'm looking for something highly unconventional, nothing stereotypical or cliched. I'd like something with a reality to it, a believable plot would be nice not a must though as long as it has very real characters, I can't watch another Kentarou or Negi like characters neither another dumb airheaded girl My favourite anime is Nodame Cantabile, I do read Naruto/Bleach mangas though, so I do like twists in plots, and interesting stories Please help!! I need a good anime to watch My faith in anime has dwindled almost to nothing thanks to the same characters and emotions they portray in the same plot hole studded stories. Also, I rather not watch something with characters fighting bigger badder enemies all the time, I've already got Naruto and Bleach for that. i feel the same way you do...you should also read air gear manga...its a really good underdog story also gungrave. its my favorite anime. i was really impress w/ the character development and their history. you get to see people grow up form street punks to mafia leaders and so on. |

I'm searching for a good anime, it would be great if someone could help me out.
I don't like things like Naruto (The story has to end sometime). I really liked: Death Note, Chobits, .Hack//Sign and Serial Experiments Lain. To put it simple: I like anime in which some weird mystery unravels. (Less than 30 episode would be great!). Oh, and I'm only looking for anime. They don't sell manga where I live, so that wouldn't help me. Thanks! |

Deidarafangirl14 I'm looking for something that is dark and rather sadistic. That has alot of blood and good mystery. If you know any yaoi anime like this then that would be awesome although it doesn't matter what genre. Thank you. ~ fangirl-chan |

Then may i suggest you check out 'Boogiepop Phantom', in similar genre of weirdness as Serial experiments Lain with a supernatural mystery-like 'feel' to it. I recommend it, it's good and only 12 eps long! |

Read this thread and found some good suggestions. Monster was a good anime not great or the best but was interesting and had it's moments but loved the Afro Samurai suggestion. Six short no filler, action packed, gory goodness with a sense of style.
Anyways looking for more good anime. I tend to like mature anime but I also enjoy more lighthearted ones such as Lupin the Third (not sure what to call the genre, action comedy?). Overall just hate cute animation and plot that is too light hearted, as I actually enjoy One Piece. Some Favorites: Claymore, Death Note, Cowboy Bepop and Lupin the Third I recommend Pet Shop of Horrors for those who like dark and twisted anime. It's really short but good. It's one of those animes where you don't have to watch more then one episode to like or hate. Link to a Wiki article = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pet_Shop_of_Horrors |

I made a thread like this a long time ago, but no one understood what it was about. This is exactly what I was trying to do when I made
ask for anime http://www.crunchyroll.com/showforumtopic?id=276 Finally a thread where we can ask for specific types of anime rather than flooding forums for recommendations. It doesn't happen here often, but it happens EVERYWHERE else. |

It's a shounen so I would reccomend Hunter X Hunter. I would reccomend Rurouni Kenshin, but chances are you've probably seen it already. If you like the martial arts action, I would reccomend Cowboy Bebop, which you also probably would have seen already, because the fight scenes are really fluid. |

To Blackmagister:
Say, ever try Great Teacher Onizuka? It's quite lighthearted and comedic with some likeable characters, and is somewhat actiony. As for more mature titles... well, I haven't seen many, but I'm sure some other users here have some good recommendations. Some things I might recommend are: Hellsing (You've probably seen it) Blood+ (It's got the word blood! And Plus!) Sorry I don't have many reccomendations, I don't watch many gory titles. |

Didn't expect people to respond thought I was just reading a dead thread. Anyways thanks for the recommendations. I've actually seen GTO and really enjoyed it. Was a great anime though not quite enough to be a favorite, but I would recommend others to watch it. Will give Hellsing and Blood+ a look. However watched a bit of Blood+ of Adult Swim and seemed a bit boring, but I'll give it a chance. |

Fav anime titles that are similar to what I would like to be recommended: Something either in the lines Claymore or romance such as REC or Kanon 2006 or something like Hayate no Gotoku! Genres that I wish to be recommended: Bloody Action or Shounen (no clue if thats the right spelling), Romance, Harem, Comedy Comments: I sort of like anime that are either so funny that i would be dying from laughing. In action, im more on a dark brutal bloody awsome looking action. It doesnt matter if its like Claymore or Heroic Age as long as its kick ass action with a not bad story. Please do not recommend NARUTO to me coz im not a big fan of it even after watching all of the available episodes and reading all the manga. In the terms of romance, i would like to watch an anime that would make me teary eyed. You know, heart warming type of anime like REC. |
