BUT PLEASE nothing innapropriate or gross I get creeped out...easily I dont really like the fighting action type series I dont mind if the series is partly action because sometimes its interesting but......yeah So please reccomend something! :D You'll probably like Slam Dunk because it has a combination of all those three things. It's mostly one-sided romance though. |

Need's some goofy, slightly serious 70s-90s anime. (not saying 2000 and onwards is bad, I just need a break from digital colors)

CR ID / Name: whoopidoo Stuff I've watched that I like: Anohana Another Aoihana Azumanga Diaoh Black Lagoon Cowboy Bebop Death Note Evangelion FLCL Ghost in the Shell: SAC Highschool of the Dead K-ON! Madoka Magica Mirai Nikki Mysterious Girlfiriend X Outlaw Star Panty and Stocking w/ Garterbelt Paranoia Agent Sankarea School Days The World God only Knows Usagi Drop (only the anime, not the manga. Dear god, not the manga) Yuru Yuri Genres that I wish to be recommended: No Yaoi, no Mecha, no Harem and no Sports. Other than that, anything is fair game. Comments: I'm currently looking for any info you fine folks might have about good anime series, either here on CR or elsewhere (although anything on CR would be prioritized). Other than the aforementioned genres that I don't care for, I'm not especially picky. Ecchi and Fanservice are fine as long as there's good plot/comedy to back it up. I also have a huge weakness for well-written Yuri. Shows featuring adult main characters are also a plus. Also, to any fellow tropers here, I am a massive fan of deconstructionist works. Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions. |

It's relatively light-hearted space opera, and an absolute must watch if you're a fan of sci-fi. It also has a rather good English dub, if that sort of thing matters to you. |

Actually one of the only old-style anime I'll watch. |

SonicGenesisKing wrote: I'm looking for something psychological, but try not to be too philosophical or I will feel the director is forcing their opinion on me, so no Eva, I do like Utena's story of gender roles. Ghost Hound! It's a great psychological anime that I believe is a bit unappreciated. I believe you can still find it on youtube. |

Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions. @Whoopidoo I'm a little fuzzy on what deconstructionist means even after looking it up. If it means.... fight the power, over throw the hierarchy in a literal sense.... "Code Geass" is a clear choice to me. It's about the revolution of Japan against England in a fictional alternate universe where England more or less conquered the majority of the world. Yes, there is some mecha, but it's really not the focus of the show. In terms of anime strategy shows, it's probably closest to Death Note. Others would be: Eden of the East Dance in the Vampire Bund Gungrave - (the main problem with this anime is that it completely changes towards the end... sorta like Eva, but episodes 2-20 are really good) If deconstructionist means rethink our society and values... "Kino's Journey" is a clear and obvious choice. (Unfortunately not on CR) Others that'd fit into this would be: "Time of Eve" Lastly some other recommendations: - "Dusk Maiden Amnesia" was my favorite show of last season (though it's romance) and it's similar to Mystery GF and Sankarea - "Samurai Champloo" was done by the same director as Bebop. |

I like goofier stuff usually, Saber Marionette is one of my favorite comedy sci-fis, so is Lost Universe. (obscure stuff) |

The "deconstruction" I'm talking about is in the definition provided by TVtropes (hence why I aimed that particular statement at fellow tropers) You can learn more about It here http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Deconstruction Also, thanks for the suggestions. |

Kino's Journey and Time of Eve are probably the best way to go then. You might like Trigun too. It's not really apparent at first, but ending does fit into deconstruction. It's also a space western! |

I noticed both female main characters look almost identical. I've also seen FLCL and a few episodes of Kids on the Slope but wasn't a big fan. I'm looking for anime that is more like the anime I picked out than the separate genres. But thanks anyways. I'll look up Seitokai no Ichizon. |

Click to show or hide tragedy Hanasaku Iroha - slice of life Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora - drama Usagi Drop - heart warming slice of life Toradora! - high school romance, very funny, dramatic Steins;Gate - sci-fi , thriller, comedy Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo(Girl who leapt through time) - movie |
