mippa I'm cringing at myself for saying this, but something about the art style really turns me off to Skip Beat - how about it, CR peeps? Should I look past it and give it a shot?

Skip Beat is amazing. Whilst she puts up with way too much in the first episode (which is pretty weak), once the acting assigments start the whole thing really kicks off. It's not really a romance per se. It's inevitable that Kyoko and Ren will eventually get together (32 books and still no signs of actually getting it on) but for now the author is pretty content with keeping the tension going.

Skip Beats skill is the attention to detail, combined with some truly electrifying acting performances. Every tiny thing is considered, from how the characters stand and hold themselves, how they walk, the type of speech they use, how they dress, etc. The range shown by the VAs makes me think that it's virtually impossible to dub this. Kyoko's final acting test as Mio is one of my favourite anime scenes ever.

The only thing I can see putting people off is that Kyoko is, well , nuts. You either fine her funny and endearing (as I do) or in need of serious help.....

Ok, I'll set aside my reservations and give it a shot! I love industry-type anime (Glass Mask is an all-time favorite) so I'll give it an honest try!

I'm requesting help.
I watched a lot of animes a couples of years ago, then stopped.
But recently I started learning japanese and my love for animes came back with it!
The thing is, I've been far from the "scene" for a while and I can't seem to know where to look.
I'd like help to find something I'd love. I've made a list of animes I remember watching with a rating on 5 to let you know about my tastes.

Scores/5
5 • GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka
5 • Full Metal Alchemist
5 • Love Hina
5 • Midori no Hibi
4 • Hellsing
5 • ./Hack
4 • Scrapped Princess
5 • Chrono Crusade
5 • Tenjou Tenge
5 • Samuraï Champloo
4 • Golden Boy
5 • Full Metal Panic
5 • Full Metal Panic Fumoffu
4 • Samurai 7
5 • School Rumble
5 • Neon Genesis Evangelion
5 • Cowboy Bebop
3 - Inuyasha (Nice start but gets repetitive fast)
3 - Rurouni Kenshin
5 - Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal (Rurouni Kenshin OVA)
5 - Samurai X: Reflection (Rurouni Kenshin OVA)
4 - Chobits
3 - Wolf's Rain
5 - Peace Maker Kurogane
5 - Macross Plus
4 - Scryed
5 - Elfen Lied
4 - Princess Mononoke
5 - R.O.D. - Read or Die
3 - Azumanga Daioh

It's a small list but I can't remember much more.
So, what do you think I'd like? Do you like some of my favorites?

Thank you anyway for your help, it's really appreciated.

PS: It could also include animes that are not in crunchyroll, I can find them myself if I have too, don't worry.

Not only are you a Key fan but a lover of Glass Mask. This could be the begining of a beautiful friendship. I have a few more recomendations if that's alright?

Hitohira: because you like Glass Mask and girl/girl. Good female friendship going on, that's it though. It's on my borderline yuri list. :)
Chihayafuru: because the genre and atmosphere is a little like H&C and Nodame.
Boys Over Flowers: Very dramatic romance that changes and grows. I think you'll like it even though they are highschool kids.
Paradise Kiss: It's by the same person as Nana. I love Nana by the way. :)

I have on more but I'm not sure about it. It doesn't really fit the genre. To much action but I liked it. It's called Glass Heart.

Chihayafuru is on my to-watch list. I haven't heard of Hitohira, so I'm going to look into that right now! Thanks for the great rec! Boys over Flowers I have seen in nearly every incarnation - I just tend to call it HanaDan instead. XDa ParaKiss as well! I think I've read/watched most of Yazawa's works!

Another one I've heard of in passing, but will need to look into. Thanks so much!

I didn't see "Black Lagoon", "Jormungand", or "Deadman Wonderland" in your list. You might also want to try "Durarara!!". "Guilty Crown" also has plenty of action despite a train wreck of a story. And you might enjoy "Freezing".

City Hunter. Definitely City Hunter.

Beyond that... Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple, Canaan, Fate/Stay Night and Kaze no Stigma.

Ah, and if you can find it: Shura no Toki has some of the most incredible martial arts action I have EVER SEEN in an anime.

I'm trying to figure out the distinction between your 4's and 5's. Some of them confuse me, so I may be way off
Also, I myself am mainly a couple years back on my watch list, so I'm going to go with stuff that's few years old. If you really want cutting edge, I won't have it.

Anyway, I'll suggest:
Glass Maiden (b/c you like R.O.D) which is mystery/sci-fi. If you like that, move on to Kami-sama no Memochou. Also, possibly Kaze no Stigma.
If you like Full Metal Panic, there is Full Metal Panic: Second Raid, though it's definitely far more melodramatic and angsty than the first series. If that's not your cuppa, then maybe you'd like Solty Rei?
Another one you might like is Black Cat. It has a lot in common tonally with Scryed and Wolf's Rain. If that works for you... Get Backers.
Also, FMA: Brotherhood, which is the manga FMA converted to anime.

Oh, and as far as just EXCELLENT anime, rather than personalized suggestions: Daughter of 20 Faces, Summer Wars, Allison + Lillia, Ride Back, Eden of the East, Fantastic Children, Coyote Ragtime Show, and MAYBE Rozen Maiden (That one's kinda weak, based on your likes.)

And finally... Fate/Stay Night. Definitely.

Try Casshern Sins. ...It's androids, but not mecha. It definitely does the bleak feeling of a post-apoc setting really well.
Ergo Proxy would be similar. Again, there are a couple mechs in it, but it's a very minor portion. It's definitely got a very Cyberpunk post-apoc feel. (Similar to, though different from, Ghost in the Shell).
Solty Rei likewise, though that's probably too far into pure cyberpunk.
Haibane Renmei, though it's... as much pseudo-religious allegory as it is post-apocalyptic.
Oh, and TehXnolyze. TeXhnolyze? TeXnohylze? Hydroglycerol and the Glucalucolactones? ...Whatever it's called.

If you want to go a little lighter on the post-apoc, Trigun is pretty obvious, though not super deep.
Also, Desert Punk, though I found it pretty meh.
And depending on how far you stretch your definition of "mecha", The Third: Girl with the Blue Eye is pretty good (she drives a giant sentient tank, but most of the action involves sword-fighting. Hence my question.)
And Letter Bees.

TehX and Casshern are definitely the darkest and most bleak. Ergo Proxy is the most deep. The Third is the most atmospheric (it's GORGEOUS, lots of very long shots of desert at night.) Solty Rei is least post-apoc and Desert Punk is the worst of the suggestions.

That's it, this means war, Kohou. You keep recomending everything I think of. I second The Third and Letter Bee. There are a few more but I't been forever since I actually watched them so I can't make any promises.
Avenger: I don't think it's post apocalypse but it has that kind of feel if I remember right.
Same with Blood +

I know it's not exactly what your looking for but I couldn't just let this pass without comenting.
