Hi! I was hoping one of you awesome people could recommend me an anime! My top two animes as of right now are SAO and My Little Monster. They're pretty different from each other, but those two shows pretty much represent the types of genre I go for in animes. So if anyone wants to give a few suggestions of shows that are either

A.) Action with maybe some romance and comedy (but not necessary)
or
B.) Romance Comedy

Not really into the mecha type, and I prefer the characters to be older-- at least 16/18.

That would be great! Here are some animes I've really enjoyed!

Fullmetal Alchemist
Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood
SAO
Avatar the Last Airbender (does this count as an anime?)
My Little Monster
Skip Beat

I know there's way more, but this is off the top of my head! :)
I wish they would make Oresama Teacher into an anime... I love that manga.. it's so funny!

THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
And please, if you could leave these things out of recs:
witches, warlocks, demons, (etc.) --- rape, incest, and homosexual relationships --- Thanks!!!!

.hack/sign and accel world have the similar theme of it being a game like SAO infact accel world is based in the same canon as SAO.
In the romcom genre I would highly reccomend inu x boku ss it is very high on the comedy in the 1st half and the romance is more in the last eps.

Tofukins is on the right track, I think. However, of his suggestions you're going to want to skip over Ouran, Maria+Holic, Black Butler (demons), Pandora Hearts (demons), Code Geass (witches) and possibly Soul Eater. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you're either Baptist or Born Again, and I apologize if I'm on the wrong track here. Though loving FMA while not wanting anime with demons is confusing the heck out of me.

Typically, I'd offer Fate/Stay Night based on your suggestions, but that's got magic up the wazoo. So Accel World is as close as I think you can get tonally. It's sort of a cross between the Matrix VR and a mecha series. So that would be my first choice.

Count me as also seconding Toradora, which is probably the best romcom I've seen, though I admit to being a Rie Kugumiya fan. If that works for you, I MIGHT suggest Hayate no Gotoku, which is a much more "fluffy" romcom, though one of the recurring side characters is a shinto priestess and there is one scene where she banishes a ghost. It's a very minor part of the whole though, so I'd feel pretty comfortable in suggesting it.

If you like Skip Beat... hmm... Daughter of 20 Faces? That's got some fascinating steam punk pseudo-mystery cat burglar stuff going on, and one of the few strong female leads.
Cowboy Bebop, of course, is a must-watch.
And Genshiken might work for you too. It's about a bunch of anime losers trying to find love in college. If that's too depressing, Comic Party and Comic Party Revolution is a slightly more compassionate look at the same concept.

Ah, and last but not least Shura No Toki, which is just straight up semi-historical fiction, with some of the most intense martial arts action in anime. The fights are super intense, very realistic, and the characters are great. A++.

You've got some great recommendations so far but of course I have a few more. I would suggest looking up the ones that sound interesting and reading their descriptions. I'll try and say something you might like and something you might not about all of them to make it fair. Pre warning though, I loved these so I might have difficulty thinking of something negative. :)
Because you liked My Little Monster.

Peach Girl:This is a romantic comedy where nothing is really easy. The relationships are a bit complicated and halting. I'm starting to think My Little Monster has similar relationships and romance. It might be to much of a complicated love affair if your looking for something light.

His and Her Circumstances: This is similar to Peach Girl except the romance between the two characters is much more solid and unshakable. The troubles the main characters face are within themselves or problems outside there romance. For example a problem arises because of their classmates at one point. The negative is the sometimes overly artsy animation. At times it annoyed me a little.

Lovely Complex: Another romantic Comedy where the two are very different in some ways and that causes problems. This one is funnier compared to the first two and lighter and more happy too. I can't seem to think of a negative right now. :)

Boys Over Flowers: This RomCom is a little longer and more in depth maybe to long and drawn out for you? A great complicated romance the type that would have ballads written about it..... or an anime :)

Because You liked Skip Beat!
These are all about people who are trying as hard as they can to reach for the top and be the best. They grow and learn and make friends along the way.

Kaleido Star: A little long 52 episodes but one of my favorites. very funny and has it's share of drama and action. Not the fight to the death kind of action but the other kind. :)

Stellvia of the Universe: 26 episodes I think and a story that will make it very hard to stop and go to sleep at night. There is a bit of mecha But really there just small future spaceships, like planes but in space. Has romance, action, and even some adventure.

Saiunkoku Monogatari: Another pretty long one, 40 something episodes I think. Her struggles are mostly done with her mind and her will power. That's not to say there aren't people who fight for her. It's a reverse harem I guess but the guys all respect her decision to be a career woman. Takes place in the past.

Battle Athletes Victory: Again a bit long same as before. Girls compete to be the best athlete in the world. They have super human strength but that is apparently because of all there training not in any way magic. Part of it takes place in space. If you want something super serious move on because these settings are a bit ridiculous.

Hitohira: This anime is one of the most similar to Skip Beat. A girl has to overcome her own limitations and emotions when she joins the school drama club..... sort of. Very funny and pretty dramatic and touching. There isn't really any romance though.

Action anime because of FMA.

Busou Renkin: Pre warning, there is alchemy in this anime. Non of the main characters are alchemists but it does exist and they use alchemical weapons to fight creatures created through alchemy. It has lots of action and a little bit of romance. This anime debatably has one of the most epic action scenes in anime.

Katanagatari: Weird romance. Super weaponless fighting. Full of adventure with very interesting characters. The episodes are long but there aren't that many of them.

Wow that took a lot of time. Maybe next time I should only recommend a couple of anime. I can't help but go overboard sometimes.

Can somebody tell me a good post-apocalyptic anime that is not mecha?
Preferably something deep like Pale cocoon.
Dont really have anymore to list since I havent seen many others except Akira maybe.

I'm going to point you in a slightly different direction.
Kino's Journey: the Beautiful World (Kino no Tabi -the Beautiful World-) takes place in a setting that's not post-apocalyptic, but better described as a world that's "moved on". It follows a lone traveler who visits various isolated countries that relate to each other in interesting ways. I'm not going to say any more because I think part of the charm of the series is how things are revealed as it progresses. If you want an anime that will make you think, you should check it out.

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a good anime that are CURRENTLY AIRING THIS SEASON (Fall 2012). I usually only find 1-2 anime per a season that I enjoy.

Some of my favorites from this year: Hyouka, Dusk Maiden Amnesia, Another, Binbogami-Ga, Sword Art Online (I know it's still airing), Kokoro Connect.

Honestly? I'd just go to TvTropes Fall Anime page like so.
That's probably the most direct option. Then you can see everything out this season. I'm going to suggest Little Busters, and Psycho-Pass, but see what takes your fancy.

I still haven't quite narrowed down this seasom yet but besides Little Busters which was already said from what I've seen Chuunibyou Demo Koi Ga Shitai!, K and Sukitte Iinayo are looking good.
Chuunibyou Demo Koi Ga Shitai for comedy.
K for action.
Sukitte Iinayo for romance.

Well im looking for some new good anime to watch <3 My most favorites have been Eureka Seven, Full Metal Alchemist, SAO, Fairy Tail, Elfin Lied.

I Guess I really like deep stories, romance, adventure.

I Also Love the cutsy characters like in Elifen Lied, Nyu.

I'm okay with the 13 episode animes but i Love them to go into detail, and character development is important. Like in Eureka Seven I fell in Love with like every character <3

What i really Love about these Animes is there Orginality, so i guess just recommend me some of your favorites <3

Thanks

I'm looking for something similar to Seitokai Yakuindomo. I loved the series, it had great comedic value and a brilliant cast of characters, but only lasted 13 episodes...

I'm recently getting back into Anime. I'm 28, so the kiddy type anime doesn't suit me well anymore.
I like good action or 'battle of wits' animes. Some of my favorites would be Claymore, (Bleach and Naruto but NOT FILLER) Death Note, Code Geass (I saw a pilot video for a new one. Is this a teaser? I haven't seen anything come out sense.) And recently got into Sword Art Online. (guilty pleasure, very addicting).

Some of the more lesser watched ones that I enjoyed were Kurozuka (REALLY good for those of you who haven't seen it) and Sword of the Stranger (Amazing movie, also open to movie recommendations).

I'm not looking to get into any of the series' that have hundreds of episodes (One Piece, Gintama.)

Sorry for the poor format. Any responses would be appreciated. <3 Shizdain
