I recently watched Nodame Cantabile and I really enjoyed the way that the audience is subjected to highly technical aspects of musical theory without having to have really any prior knowledge at all (though I was a trombone player for about 10 years so I do have a slight appreciation for orchestrated music). I also really enjoyed Chihayafuru a whole lot, which is about that competitive ancient Japanese card game. I went into it with zero knowledge of the game, and it was presented to me in a way that was easy for me to understand, while also getting technical and detailed with the matches. And the matches were so epic in how they were animated you really got pulled into them. It's probably a pipe dream to find something slice of life with great characters like these aforementioned titles; having to do with some kind of sport or skill or game. But I would be interested to hear any suggestions. Try: Shion no Ou (Shogi/chess sort of) Kaleido Star (circus acrobatics) Skip Beat! (acting mostly) Angelic Layer (not real game) Hitohira (acting/drama club) Stellvia of the Universe (mini space ship piloting I guess you could call it) Moretsu Pirates (more spaceship stuff) Dennou Coil (not the same as the others but you should check it out anyway) Nodame Canabile was really good so finding somthing as mind expanding will be hard. It was a little easier to think of anime like Chihayafuru. |

I'm watching Aria the animation riths now and I'm just about at the end of the season and I'm hoping for a proper climax, like Akari is forced to go home and might not be able to return. I don't think I'm going to get one though. This doesn't seem like an anime that will have the type of climax I'm looking for.
If you can think of anything that is like this but does have a good climax can you pleas tell me. Laid back, slice of life with a good intense climax. I like emotion. Oh and don't say Haibane Renmei because I already thought of that one. It is a good example though. |

Based on those series can anyone recommend something similar? Thanks in advance! This is not the genre I'm best with but maybe Fate Stay/Night, Kurokami, Kurenai, Moon Phase or Scrapped Princess. |

I've been watching baseball and never really thought about the strategy that went into it, but Big Windup shows you a lot of strategy behind the plays they make. Moyashimon is a show about agriculture. I never finished it, so I can't say if it's good or not, but it got good reviews and supposedly the first season teaches you some cool stuff about agriculture (second season not so much). |

It's a show about a samurai and a group that kidnaps people, but it is not action-oriented. It's a very chill show. Kids on the Slope AnoHana |

Letter Bee One Piece airs on the funimation website and hulu. If you like Naruto and Bleach then I'd give One Piece a shot. Personally, I prefer One Piece to both Bleach and Naruto. Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple is a show about a boy training to become a martial artist. It's also on hulu. Katanagatari is an interesting show about a duo that fights other swordsman to collect the swords. It's not on crunchyroll, and the art style is a turnoff to some people, but you may want to give it a chance. |

House of Five Leaves is an anime series. I believe it was 12 episodes long.
I didn't think Kids on the Slope was too full of boys. While it did focus a lot on the two main characters, it also focused on another guy who was older than them and two girls. Eh, I'm not sure how to explain it, but I didn't think it was too full of boys. |

Too bad I've dropped this anime :/. I'll wait for another then I'll start watching it because I like doing anime marathons! ^.^ |
