nyanekomimi, I'd try Star Driver. You seem to have fairly similar tastes to mine and that's one on the site I absolutely fell in love with. It's a fairly nice blend too.

I'd like a recommendation.
I absolutely adored Usagi Drop, and I would love to see more anime like that. I'm looking for sweet, endearing, cute. I would like to avoid rambunctious and energetic/loud. Already love: Polar Bear Cafe My Ordinary Life (Nichijou) -- would like something slightly quieter, though Honey & Clover Hanamaru Kindergarten I don't want anything at all ecchi, though, even if it is sweet and endearing. |

I recommend 'Aishiteru Ze Baby' if you want something endearing that has a similar premise to Usagi Drop. It isn't on Crunchyroll though. 'Listen to me Girls, I'm your father!' would be great for someone who likes things like Usagi Drop, but it is a little ecchi and rambunctious. So that's probably a wash for you. |

I'm looking for either a) slice of life/coming of age anime, b) shoujo romance/drama, AND/OR c) shounen action-adventure A) I really like anime that just follow the character's life as, well, they go through live. I especially like it if it's a coming-of-age anime too. I've seen/like: Hanasaku Iroha, Piano, GTO, Kaleido Star, Glass Mask, Bamboo Blade, ef~A Tale of Memories, Usagi Drop, Wandering Son, Whisper of the Heart Notes: I don't like any slice of life anime that have a supernatural/fantasy feel to it, unless of course, it's funny/weird like FLCL. Didn't like: Kids on the Slope B) I like shoujo-romance that has lots of drama in it, and is a lot more serious than the typical shoujo-romance. It has to have some realism in it, and sort of be like a slice of life also. If I had to narrow it down, I'd be looking for something that is a cross between Marmalade Boy (my fav!), Kare Kano, and NANA. I've seen/like: Peach girl, Shuffle!, Air TV, Kanon 2006, Clannad, To Heart, Boys be..., Magikano, Maburaho, Suzuka, The World of Narue, Sand Chronicles, Chobits, Furuba, Karin, High School Debut, Kitchen Princess, 5cm Per Second Notes: I don't particularlly like harems unless there's a clear winner or one winner. Like in the anime Clannad, Shuffle!, Suzuka, etc.I do not like romantic-comedies. So no anime like School Rumble. I also don't like action/fantasy-romance anime unless it is like InuYasha or The Vision of Escaflowne. Didn't like: School Rumble, Rumbling Hearts, Hiro no Kakeru (sp?), La Corda D'oro, DearS, Rosario + Vampire, Vampire Knight, Say "I Love You", My Little Monster, Honey and Clover, My Bride is a Mermaid, Girls Bravo, Parakiss, Hot Gimmick, Kimi ni Todoke, The Wallflower, Vampire Bound C) I either like shounen that's action-adventure-fantasy/supernatural OR a sort of detective/bounty hunter/ a guy has a job each episode to do anime. I also tend to like old school shounen. I've seen/like: InuYahsa, Yu Yu Hakusho, Blood+, Claymore, Zatch Bell, Gantz, Samurai Champloo, Heat Guy J, Cowboy Bebop, Black Cat, Get Backers, Ghost in the Shell, Lost Universe, Devil May Cry Notes: I do not like MECHA, long runners (50-100+ episodes MAXMIUM), ecchi/hentai; I like blood, gore, horror, and a good story. Didn't like: Trinity Blood, Full Metal Alchemist, D-Gray Man, Shana, Kekkaishi, Air Master, Fairy Tale, KenIchi, Gundam series, Gunsliger Girl, Reborn!, Buso Renkin, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Disgaea YukinoMiyazawa This is hard. I don't know if I've tried to answer your request earlier. If I repeat myself, I'm sorry. A. Slice of life/ coming of age- If you're not opposed to sports anime, I'd give Big Windup a try. It's a baseball anime. It was fun watching the boys grow as a team and be the underdog team. B. Romance/drama- If you like Nana, you should try Paradise Kiss (same author wrote both books). I watched Nana and fell in love with the show, watched Paradise Kiss and loved it even more. It's also a lot shorter than Nana (12 episodes I think. While your at it Neighborhood Story/ Gokinjo Monogatari was also by the same author. It's old school, but still very good. C. Action/Adventure Have you tried Darker than Black? Season 1 is good and is broken down into 2-3 episode story arcs. I'd stay away from season 2, though the OVA may be good if you like the first season. Gurren Lagann is an amazing coming of age/ action show. I put off watching for a long time because I hate mecha shows (and it does have some mecha), but when I finally watched it I loved it. It has great characters. Also, the change that the protagonist goes through is a radical change. Soul Eater- action/supernatural Baccano!- Just a good, gun-toting show Trigun- Another gun-toting, but more western show. It's an older series. Each episode the characters are in a different place. |

I would also recommend Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad for slice of life. It's a fantastic coming of age story following teenagers in a rock band growing up and developing. Its also got a brilliant dub. I would say that its also worth giving some of the other Shinkai (5 cm per second) works a go, specifically Voices of a distant star. |
