So I just finished The Garden of Sinners, and I was wondering if there is anything out there that is like it? Movies, OVA's and series are welcome. Shakugan no Shauna was kind of like it, but was very lacking compared to it. For some reason Fate/Zero also gave me a similar feeling, even though both are very different. So stuff like Garden of Sinners, Shauna and Fate/Zero I guess.

I also kind of want a cool sci-fi action show like Ghost in the Shell or Code Geass. (Other examples being Evangelion, and Gundam. I don't necessarily want Mecha, its just that most good Sci-fi anime happen to be mecha.)

I suggest you try out:

Fate/Zero: A great action anime with a lot of Psychological and horror elements.
Paranoia Agent: A Psychological thriller about a mysterious assailant who looks like a child, who wears skates and beats people to near death with a base ball bat.
Serial Experiment Lain: A Psychological thriller with horror elements. Waring though, this show starts VERY slowly. It also is full of symbolism and philosophy, so if that kind of thing confuses you, you might not understand this very easily without consulting a guide wiki or something.
Ergo Proxy: A post apocalyptic action thriller with a few horror elements.
Texnholyze: A psychological action anime.
Gantz: A very violent action anime with horror elements.

I have seen Lain, and I really liked it, but I have not seen the others, so I will have to check those out. :)

Try watching Toriko or Hunter X Hunter. both are some great animes. Toriko they have on hulu and here on crunchyroll they have Hunter X hunter

Hello, I need some help.

First of all I need the anime DUBBED.

Anyway I want a horror anime WITH A FEMALE PROTAGINIST, so not like HSOTD.

I've tried watch like one episode of hunter x hunter but just could not get into it, I'll just keep going through the episodes :). I have never heard of toriko though what is that about ???.

I was the same way about hunter x hunter. Turned out to be one of my fav animes lol. But guess its not for every one =)

Toriko is about the Gourmet world where they have people that hunt ingredients down and such.and fight dangerous creatures for it and the main guy partners up with a kid that is a great cook and they go on their adventures and such. Its a Shonen Jump anime and it does a episode or 2 with One piece. I personally really enjoy it.

You could also Check out Sword Art Online. thats pretty good too about a virtual reality MMORPG that people get stuck in andhave to beat the game to get out with out dying and they die in the game they die in real life

Just last week I signed up for membership at Crunchyroll. Stumbled into anime roughly 10-years ago. I started with Slayers. Though I have watched a fair amount in that period of time, it has been limited to Netflix (which had a decent collection and I have watched a very large chunk), whatever is on DVDs at all the libraries in the city (which also is a good size), and series downloaded. Most of this has been mainstream anime so when I stumbled upon Crunchyroll (on Roku) there is a host of completely unheard of selections! I contemplated FUNanimation, but those are the animes I have been watching for years. Because of that, I picked Crunchyroll! So though I have seen quite a bit of anime, I am suddenly feeling like a newbie!

The first anime I opted to watch was Fate/Zero since I had previously seen Fate Stay Night. Much better than the first though the first wasn't "bad". But now I am at a loss without just randomizing (which isn't bad, still thought I would use this large wealth of advice in these forums).

What series are just must see on the site that I wouldn't find mainstream? Of course the series need to be complete. I have a fairly wide selection of "likes" but do not care for "slice-of-life" styles or mech. I do enjoy horror, comedy, fantasy, fan service, etc...

For simulcasts on CR you should try, take a look at Kotoura. It's a happy/depressing blend that you might find interesting. "From The New World". It is set 1000 years in the future, and deals with how society has changed after developing powers. This show is probably more along the lines of what you'd like.

Another simulcast, this time on Funimation, is Psycho-Pass. It's a fantastic look at the dark-side of human nature, and is clearly inspired by PK Dick's SF story "The Minority Report". You may be more familiar with the Tom Cruise movie version of that story.
