deadpanditto wrote: Tathlow wrote: Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide What series are just must see on the site that I wouldn't find mainstream? Of course the series need to be complete. I have a fairly wide selection of "likes" but do not care for "slice-of-life" styles or mech. I do enjoy horror, comedy, fantasy, fan service, etc... These are a FEW examples of what I have enjoyed in the past (practically randomly picked because not sure if I have that many all time favorites, but definitely liked the ones listed below): Basilisk Berserk Black Cat Cowboy Bebop Remix Death Note Demon King Daimao Elfen Lied Fullmetal Alchemist Gilgamesh Hack..//Sign Hell Girl Last Exile Read or Die Samurai Champloo Shigurui: Death Frenzy When They Cry – Higurash So you see the variety. I like dark mature horror to light-hearted fantasy anime! First, I'm going to ask if you've seen Shiki or Monster? Those are both up your alley--horror/psychological--and are available on Funimation & Hulu, respectively. http://www.funimation.com/shiki http://www.hulu.com/naoki-urasawas-monster I have pondered watching Monster for sometime. I have a copy of it from the Library or when I belonged to Netflix as a DVD member. I do not know about Shiki. I plan on sticking to Roku and currently only a paid member of Crunchyroll thus the other two options cannot be seen on the TV setup nor are they on Netflix. I don't care to watch on the computer though I guess I could on the IPad, but might spill my Martinis on it... I have just started watching this series. I do think it shall be something I'll enjoy. For simulcasts on CR you should try, take a look at Kotoura. It's a happy/depressing blend that you might find interesting. "From The New World". It is set 1000 years in the future, and deals with how society has changed after developing powers. This show is probably more along the lines of what you'd like. http://www.crunchyroll.com/kotoura-san http://www.crunchyroll.com/shin-sekai-yori-from-the-new-world I shall take a look at both of these! Another simulcast, this time on Funimation, is Psycho-Pass. It's a fantastic look at the dark-side of human nature, and is clearly inspired by PK Dick's SF story "The Minority Report". You may be more familiar with the Tom Cruise movie version of that story. http://www.funimation.com/psycho-pass Yeah, just cannot get it on Netflix This is probably enough to get you started. I hope it helps. Yeah, it shall hold me over for a bit. I also put a couple other odds ones in the queue such as "11Eyes", "Gosick", and "Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere". Got any input on those? |

I personally didn't like 11Eyes, though others did. Your mileage may vary. I loved Gosick. You need to give it a few episodes to really develop since there is a big story arc in the show. Horizon is waky fun. It doesn't make sense at first, and probably doesn't make sense at second either. But, if you pay attention you might figure out what is going on. |

That is why I tend to enjoy a variety; interchanging comedy anime with deep-thinking anime. Mature showings and then light-hearted fan service. |

Hi There Lavark2K!
Currently, I am watching this AMAZING dark and cerebral animal called Psycho Pass. Unfortunately, you can't watch it on CR but it is BRILLIANT! Available on CR is Shin Sekai Yori (From the New World) and this is a psychological thriller that I think you will enjoy. Best of Luck to you! |

I would suggest watching Fate Zero and Demon King Daimao from what I have seen on CR. |

But I guess ill just give you one suggestion for fighting and rom/com. For fighting, i would suggest Soul Eater. This is my second favorite fighting anime, and the characters literally fight with each other. The characters are interesting and different, the fighting is very nice, and its funny to boot. For rom/com id suggest Lovely Complex, its my favorite rom/com. Tall girl whos loud and in love, short boy whos nice, sweet, and oblivious. Very funny and very sweet. Let me know (after you watch them) if you liked them. ^_^ |

And, just as a side comment, I like tsundere romances. :D While it's no where near a favorite, Oreshura currently being simulcast on CR is pretty enjoyable. slight spoiler: Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide At this point it's clearly gone into harem territory (though that wasn't the clear direction in the first few episodes) but is a bit qurkier in handling that than most harem shows I've seen, Also, though it didn't appeal all that much to me, you might like Inu X Boku Secret Service. It's got your tsundere. It does have a bit of yuri, but that's by no means the main focus. But, wait here's one that for whatever reason I did like a lot. Yummy reverse harem: Hanasakeru Seishonen. It's more fanciful and exotic than many of the others you've listed, but you sitll might like it. (I liked it even though I also like more "real-world" based romances like My Little Monster, Say I love you, Kimi ni Toduko, Torodora, Kokoro Connect, etc.) |

I'm currently watching Arakawa Under the Bridge and enjoying it way, way more than I would have imagined based on just the overview. This is definitely now in my favorites list, and you can be sure I'll be continuing on with X Bridge. I love that it's quirky and hilarious but in a way that also makes you think.
In addition to the story and characters, I really like the animation style--something I also really loved in Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari (which are also both on the unenumerated "favorites" list in my head.) So, I'm thinking that it might be worthwhile seeking out another SHAFT production. What would you recommend? |

Hi! Can someone help me? I'm looking to read a yaoi manga without any adult situations in it. Just something cute and romantic. I also enjoy drama and such. Also I hope I'm not being pushy if I ask that the romance doesn't go super quick into it. I would also like to know some title in regular romance too. Thanks in advance if I get a reply! ^-^

Hope you don't mind that I trimmed almost everything out when quoting. Just thought I'd keep what was most relevant to my reply. I might have been misunderstanding, but I think you turned down some of the "Funimation" suggestions, so I just thought I'd mention that there is a Funimation channel on Roku, and there's quite a bit you can watch there with a free Funimation membership in case you didn't know that. (Typically that will take the form of being able to watch subtitled versions, but often not dubbed. Since I prefer subtitles, that's perfect for me.) Now, Funimation on Roku runs no where near as nicely as CR usually does. The initial load time when you click into the Funimation channel always takes a particularly long time, and things are sometimes clunky and sluggish or fail and must be re-tried when making selections. However, once you do have a video playing, it goes pretty well, and sometimes even navigating and choosing things goes pretty well. Anyway, I just checked and I can see both Psycho-pass (which I'm planning on watching soon) and Shiki as available --and it looks like both dubbed and subtitles versions of Shiki are there. |

I hope popcorngurl knows enough to ignore this suggestion if that's who you were hoping to see it, oh troll. Me, well, I actually have seen (knowing full well what it was) Boku no Pico and liked it. But it's out and out porn, and if that's not what you're looking for, well... |

Me, well, I actually have seen (knowing full well what it was) Boku no Pico and liked it. But it's out and out porn, and if that's not what you're looking for, well... I love how you just make an assumption that I haven't watched it and thus label me as a 'troll'. Without giving the chance to even explain myself and fyi I have watched it, all 3 OVA'S. Your reply just shows how judgemental you are without giving people a chance to explain why they put it in. Whereas people like you making accusations out of nothing more than just a title flip out over nothing. All in all if you keep jumping into conclusions without getting any more information before coming to a decision, then you're making it harder for new users to jump in and express themselves. |
