I'm very new to anime, so I can't really say what I like. I'm hardly even aware of how far anime goes in terms of genres so I'll just list what I've seen and enjoyed and work from that.

-Death Note (great)
-Hunter x Hunter (5 episodes, so far so good)
-Digimon Adventure (good)
-Digimon Adventure 02 (bad)
-Digimon Tamers (great)
-Pokémon (I'm attached to the games and Universe. Please don't recommend 800+ episode filler-based animes with no character development lol)

Videogame-wise I tend to like a lot of swords & sorcery fantasy stuff.

Since you like Death Note you should definitely try Code Geass since the protagonists are very similar and are both anti heroes.
If you like your action shows then you should try Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Darker than Black, Black Lagoon, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex, Fate/Zero(lots of swords and sorcery in this), Claymore and Hellsing Ultimate.
For shows with a pretty deep and intelligent plot I would advise Baccano, Durarara, Bakemonogatari, Ergo Proxy, Welcome to the NHK, and Steins Gate.(Steins gate is a brilliant time travel thriller.)

Then you have the stuff that everybody has seen like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Clannad, Elfen Lied and FMA Brotherhood and Cowboy Bebop that I mentioned up there.

Out of all of these I would recommend watching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the shell, Steins Gate and Code Geass first since they are good animes for those fairly unfamiliar with anime and contain few of the tropes that are prevalent in other stuff, e.g: Fan-service and Moe(Moe meaning, well just watch a Moe anime and you will probably figure that one out. )

Out of all of these Fate/Zero and Durarara are both on Crunchyroll and Bakemonogatari is also on there if you live in the USA.

Here is a link to the stuff I have watched, we may have differing opinions but anything marked with a 10 or a 9 is something I think is definitely worth watching.

Anyone care to help me out with fining a new anime?
Here's a list of anime I've watched and enjoyed, could anyone suggest something similar or something?

-Fullmetal Alchemist (Seen both brotherhood and original, loved both)
-b gata h kei (I have not clue why i watched this... it was funny though)
-Haganai (not bad story quite funny)
-Myself; Yourself (Really good and emotional story)
-Squid Girl (I cry with laughter at times...) (currently watching)

So yer, i like anime with good story's, comedy and don't mind fighting... (as long as it's not to OTT)

Don't think ill get much help on this one since I think ive searched this genre out pretty well. But does anyone know a good mecha anime?

Pretty much seen all the well known ones, atleast I think I have. Below is a list of ones Ive watched.
So mainly curious if there are any hidden gems out there. Also I wont go into listing any sequels of series since if I did that it would make this list even longer. So I just put the main name for everything.

Gundam (when i say gundam I pretty much mean all the gundam series)(unicorn is the best one i think)
break blade
Neon Genesis
code geass
Eureka 7 (along with Eureka 7 AO)
Full metal panic
Heroic age
isekai no seikishi monogatari aka Tenchi Muyo (enjoyed this one alot)
mars day break
Escaflowne
Dual! Parallel Trouble
Martian Successor Nadesico
Muv-luv total eclipse
RahXephon
Ride back
Star Driver
Gurren Lagann

I haven't seen "Another", but from what I can read from description of it, its a mystery one. I'd say give Un-go a try. Its a another mystery/detective anime and its on CR. I enjoyed the series alot.

EDIT
I'd also reccomend giving Blast of Tempest a shot. I don't think it fits the mystery genre but it does meet thriller aspect I think. And its also on CR so worth a shot.

Hi! I am pretty new to anime (I mean I've literally only seen Trigun, Hellsing, and a couple episodes of Fullmetal alchemist; all of which I enjoyed, especially Trigun) and Crunchyroll. I am looking to watch more anime, but I am unsure of what to watch. In general I love the generes of fantasy (especially),comedy, sci-fi, horror, action, and thriller. I don't usually like drama or romance (however some romance is fine as long as its not the main thing). I am fairly certain I will be buying a Crunchyroll subscription, and I do have a Hulu plus subscription. I am mainly looking for Anime that can be found on either Crunchyroll or Hulu. Thanks in advance :)

My recommendation for a combo comedy fantasy is Ixion Saga DT. Of course there's also plenty of fantasy that's not so much comedy and comedy that's not really fantasy, but I'll leave those recommendations to others.

For horror with a tad of thriller: Another

For something that doesn't neatly fit a category but has trappings of sci-fi laid over a classic revenge story, flipped to be told from a different point of view than the original, Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo. This is gorgeous and wonderful and had spaceships and mecha, but not too much of either. Mostly it's about character but there is a lot that goes on.

Hey, ive been watching anime for a while now but pretty much mainstream stuff, dbz, bleach, naruto, ect. I wanna watch some good ones that stream on CR. Ive watched code geass, another, full metal alchemist brotherhood, death note, fate zero. I want something like those, adventure, dark/deep, antihero, or just plain carnage. Im not really a fan of comedy Anime. Also dont like mech to much either.

In addition to the other shows that were mentioned (watch those), here are a few others:
Shiki- horror
Darker than Black- sci-fi/ action
Steins;gate-sci-fi
Baccano- action (but really has a bit of everything)
Angel Beats- it has drama, comedy, and action in it.
Monster- thriller
Death Note- thriller
Eden of the East- thriller
Mayou- fantasy (on crunchyroll)
Spice and Wolf- fantasy
Princess Tutu- fantasy
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles- fantasy. Honestly the manga is 10x better than the anime, but I would give the anime a try.
Arakawa Under the Bridge- comedy (on crunchyroll)
Nichojou/ My Ordinary Life- comedy (on crunchyroll)
Puella Magi Madoka- dark magical girl show. Don't let the magical girl part fool you, it is an amazing show. (on crunchyroll)
Fate Zero-- kinda fantasy/thriller. Another AMAZING show. (on crunchyroll)

If I didn't specify the show is on Crunchyroll, then it is on hulu.

bklynbest

Shiki
Monster
Deaman Wonderland
Hellsing/Hellsing Ultimate
Blood-C- watch for the carnage, not story.
Claymore
Katanagatari- less gore/more adventure
Elfen Lied

I know there are more out there, but that is all I can think of at the moment

This list is kind of all over the place, but it's good that you like a variety of things :)
If you don't mind me asking, what did you like about the shows? Do you like shows with a good story or interesting characters? Do you like comedy or action or slice of life (a show that focuses on the characters daily lives)?

I'd definitely try:
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiyah
Baccano! (has a lot of really interesting characters, but can get a little gorey)
Durarara
Darker than Black (kinda sci-fi, but has a few really cool characters)
Persona 4 the animation
Toradora (high school romantic comedy. very funny!)
Trigun
Gurren Lagann (cool characters and an incredible story. kinda sci-fi).
Fate Zero

With Winter Season winding down and my CR simulcast queue growing temporarily shorter as a result, I thought I might try to cram in a bunch of episodes from a recent simulcast show from Funi over the next few weeks. I've narrowed my preference down to Psycho-Pass or Robotics;Notes (and whichever I don't watch now I'll probably get around to trying later). For those of you who have seen either or both, which would you recommend?

Or would you recommend something completely different from this season. I have no interest in Puchim@s or Hetalia Beautiful World and I already gave up on what I suspected would be pure crap (and was) Senran Kagura, which I think doesn't leave a whole lot else I can get legally.
