Durarara!! Nabari no Ou Baccano! (Has a lot of gore.) Deadman Wonderland (Also has a lot of gore.) A Certain Magical Index ..By the way, not sure if it's a dumb question or not, but did you watch Naruto? To anyone who would like to recommend an anime to me, please use the list above (adding on Amnesia, Pandora Hearts, Sekirei, Heaven's Lost Property, and Madoka Magica). Thanks~ |

I'm looking for a dark anime , with more to it than just violence and nudity (In other words, don't say something like Elfen Lied). I want the series or movie to have some sort of meaning behind everything. Now, that isn't to say that I am opposed to violence and nudity, it is just that I want there to be some sort of message behind the gore and tits.
EX; Ghost in the Shell Texhnolyze Habine Renmei Serial Experiments Lain Paranoia Agent Evangelion Raxephon Baccano Akira Angel's Egg Garden of Sinners [c] Death Note Code Geass Steins;Gate Fate/Zero Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai Welcome to the NHK |

It's not dark in the way of Texhnolyze or Serial Experiments Lain, but the overall tone/story is still dark. It's in the post-apocalyptic/futuristic technology category, has some violence but doesn't really get gory (not even in the same league with, say, Baccano), there isn't any nudity as far as I remember, and there's definitely a story behind everything regardless. |

From your list I gather you like anime that is primarily action, but has some romance mixed in too. So here's a list of suggestions with some comments to help guide you. First though, I have to mention that your list could certainly have better shows in it, and I'm not sure if it's like that because you're new to anime, or because you like mediocre shows, not to be an asshole. Some of my suggestions take that into consideration. Eureka Seven - A fantastic 50 episode anime with lots of air-surfing mecha action, and a story which hinges on the budding romance between the two main characters. The plot also has more than enough to keep things interesting. I watched this one in my early days of anime, and I still think very highly of it. Inuyasha - Demons and demon slayers and monks and priestesses in Fuedal Japan. That about sums it up. This wasn't exactly the greatest anime, but this and FullMetal Alchemist were my gateway anime, so you'll probably like it too. The romance isn't the largest part of it by far, but it's slow to develop because it's between a human and a dog (half) demon with no social skills. This one is 167 episodes, and then there's "The Final Act" which is 26 episodes. Come to think of it, I only watched the first few eps of that one. Kurokami - Okay, so I normally wouldn't recommend this if someone had a pair of garden shears in position to cut off my manhood, but this is anime entwines the romance with the action. It's like the "power of love" crap you get from shoujo anime, but on steroids so that it interests guys too. This is one you'll probably either love or hate, based on your current list choices. 23 eps. Rurouni Kenshin (aka Samurai X) - This is an incredibly well known 94 episode anime, although the last third of it is bullshit, so it's 60 good episodes. Actually I'd say about 30 good, followed by 30 great, (followed by 30 crap). This is about a wanderer named Kenshin who was the most badass and feared swordsman in the Meiji Revolution. After the revolution he swore to never take another life, and now wields a sword with the blade on the back side. He meets a girl named Kaoru in the first episode, who is a swordsmanship instructor, and he ends up staying with her, ending his wandering. This is where the romance comes in, although Kaoru isn't very womanly, so it ends up creating a good bit of humor. This is a classic that is very much worth watching. Zegapain - This is one that I loved, even though there were things that surely could have been done better. It has a crazy sci-fi premise that completely grabbed my interest. More details of the premise and plot come slowly, so it really keeps you coming back for more. Unfortunately this is the kind of anime where anything I might explain about the plot and premise, and for that matter the romance situation, would be spoiler, so I have to leave you hanging on this one. 26 episodes. Steins;Gate - This one is more sci-fi/humor, rather than sci-fi/action like Zegapain. This is a recent anime that the anime community collectively agrees is one of the best in recent years. The main character fucks around with a microwave so much it creates a tear in the space-time continuum. When connecting a phone to it he can send messages dubbed "D-Mail" to the past. It's pretty wacky, but at the same time it gets a much more serious tone in the second half of the series. His romance with the (totally tsundere) female lead is a little different, in that he keeps repeating the same 2 days so many times when nobody else has any memory of it happening, so the relationship develops really quickly, yet not, thanks to this time travel quirk. I don't know if I'm even making sense anymore, so I'll just say this: FUCKING WATCH IT! 24 episodes. 5 Centimeters per Second - This is a pure romance story that I thought was worth mentioning. It's either a movie, or a 3 episode OVA depending on how you look at it. It has some fantastic artwork that will likely have you drooling from keeping your mouth hanging open for too long. Technically these two are just childhood friends in the first place, but it wouldn't be much of a story if there weren't stronger feelings involved. It's basically a story about holding on to love when circumstances force you to be physically separated. I know, that was a lazy ass explanation, but I've been typing for a while here, so that's all you're gonna get. Well hopefully this will be a good start for you. And welcome to the anime community. |

Need some help finding some anime, I pretty much will watch anything, though what I am looking for are some anime with good stories that is to say is's not easy to figure out what is going to happen or if it is that you can over look that because of how the show puts it's own spin on the type of story it's telling. What I would like help with is finding some anime I could sit down and in only a few sittings without being able to figure out how it's going to end within 2-3 eps. Here are some examples of some shows that I have enjoyed without having this happen on:
SAO FMA & FMAB R.O.D. Negima!? Pet girl of sakurasou Baka to Test Hayate no Gotoku! Sekirei (both seasons) The World God Only Knows (both seasons) Trinity Blood Anyway if anyone has any suggestions I would welcome them, and thanks in advance. |

I didn't see any of the following on your list (except Reborn!): Dragonball Z Tenjho Tenge Claymore Reborn! - I noticed u stopped at ep 18! It get's awesome at ep 20! Once u get there, it keeps getting better and better! I almost dropped the series myself after about 10 eps, but everyone kept saying to get to ep 20! They weren't kidding! Darker than Black Samurai Champloo Fate/Zero Not all of these are heavy action, like a DBZ, but they're all at least action animes that are rated quite well. |
