Hey thanks for the reply and those are some great shows but I have seen them all lol. I have seen 100+ series, so it's getting harder and harder to find more good ones

do you have an exact list of what you've seen?
apparently someone said that listing animes isn't helpful (you know who you are and I do too, lol not that i care)

but if you have a list it is more helpful than making myself look like an ass and recommend things you've seen.

It took me several hours to go through the master list at Animeplanet to figure out what all I'd seen, but ultimately it's been pretty worthwhile. Particularly if you want a recommendation you can just flash your list at people: http://www.anime-planet.com/users/Balzack/anime Myanimelist is a more popular option, but I didn't like their layout as much.

Anyways I thought that arbitrarily listing off a hundred harem anime in a form that looked copy/pasted from something sort of defeated the purpose of a recommendation. I'm all about spreading the word on anime that I love, and I get satisfaction from knowing other people are out enjoying those titles as well.

But I decided that it wasn't my business how you decide to recommend to people, so I deleted the post And you're right there are some cases like this where quantities of recommendations can be more important than just listing off a few favorites.

lol, no you're fine dude, my thought process was list what genre they wanted and they could use a google search to find out if it is for them (my master plan relied on them knowing how to search for things on google )

no offense was taken we're chill

Could someone either quote or PM me your answer?

I would like to be recommended an anime preferably similar to Hanasaku Iroha

Genres:
Slice of Life
Romance (you don't have to include SoL in your search, just with romance is okay.

Please not the one where films document their lives due to boredom, or Chihayafuru. Also, could I ask for a SoL anime related to Polar Bear Cafe/Lucky Star? Preferably no romance for that one, lol.

I recommend Full Metal Panic to anyone who can watch a series and enjoy the jokes even though the storyline is completely unrealitic! I'm just getting into this series and I'm really enjoying the absurd humor. I'm watching the dub right now which is pretty mediocre but the low quality makes the jokes seem even more over the top which I find funny. I'm actually enjoying Chris Pattion's Sosuke Sagara a lot even though he I despise his existence for taking part in the abomination that was the Gintama Movie Dub.

I am specifically looking for your suggestions of up to, say, five magical girl shows that are either very good or, if not so good, serve as a good example of their own little piece of the genre.

What would be most helpful are suggestions for shows that can be viewed legally online, or can be acquired fairly inexpensively on DVD. Thus while I of course know about Sailor Moon, actually finding a way to acquire would be difficult (plus, well, I really don't like dubs, especially bowdlerized dubs, and if I understand correctly there wasn't a legal subbed version distributed. I also know there's a new Sailor Moon happening), so stuff like that might be worth mentioning as information, but it's not all that useful as a recommendation right here right now.

What I've already seen and liked that are clearly magical girls shows:

Shugo Chara
Madoka Magica

I have quite possibly seen some other less memorable examples, but I can't remember them well enough to list.

If you want a fairly complete list of every anime I've seen, along with how I've liked them based on ratings, that list is at:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/MyAnime/?user=lorreen&categ=3

Please, please don't reply with a list of more than five suggestions. I sometimes see people respond to recommendation requests with what seems to be a list of every single title they can think of that might somehow fit. Maybe some people like that, since it gives them a reference to continue to go back to. But I'm looking for something more "curated" and frankly if you give me a list of 20 or more things, I'm not even going to know where to start and will likely ignore that list.

Hello...

Have you seen Cardcaptor Sakura?

It's a CLAMP product [http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=5765]. I think it's a very good magical girl show. A tad childish at times, it does deal with some fairly adult themes now and then. It might be a bit tough to find new, but there are used DVDs for sale on Amazon.com. Such as Volume 1:

I would highly recommend staying away from the English dub. I'm not a Dub hater, but it really is a terrible English adaptation.

That's only one, but it's my favorite. Hope it helps. Cheers.
