Hey i'm fairly new to anime so I've only watched a few and need to know where to get started.

My top five at the moment are

1.Deathnote

2.steinsgate

3.Code geass

4.Mirai nikki

5.Digimon S1 (childhood)

I'm looking for preferably good characters writing and story with as little action as possible (I find it boring). Also preferably 50e or less.

animes I've checked out but didn't really like (I've watched all of these all the way.)

.FMA

.FMAB

.Baccano

..//hack

.Fate Zero

Thanks for reading ps: I really like the new attack on titan so far :3

spiral
ghost hunt
hell girl s1 2 3
matantei loki ragnorak

because i felt like recommending mystery animes...

Great sound like my sort of stuff time to do a little bit of research I think. Thanks

I'd also suggest Naoki Urasawa's Monster. It's a deliberately paced psychological thriller about a young serial killer in Germany in the years following the country's reunification, and a Japanese brain surgeon in residence there who saved his life as a child. As well as a superb cast of related characters, including the detective investigating the murders.

While occasionally violent, it concentrates intensely on character development and covers several years.

It's not like there's a murder every episode or anything like that. But if you forget the suspense it'll bite you in the ass.

Or if you're in a less morbid state of mind, you could try Haibane Renmei. It's about a village where mysterious angel-like children are "born"; Reki's character arc is probably one of the most affecting stories I've seen in an anime.

Pictures of Rakka and Reki:

Yoshitoshi Abe was involved on Haibane Renmei, who's basically the only person in the anime industry I know by name besides Hayao Miyazaki. The projects I've seen that he's been a part of have all been singular and extraordinary.

Is there an anime out there that have a NICE story about brother-sister (Twins are a plus; sister-sister relationship are fine but bro-bro is a no-no) relationship that do not cross the line of incest?
A refreshing story about the siblings where it seems like they don't really care about each other but really (over)protective of their sibling.

It doesn't need need to be the whole point of the anime. Supporting or Side character story arcs are welcome.

i'm guessing you just finished yosuga no sora

Yes I've heard about it. It sounds good although it has a lot of episodes I defiantly think I will check it out though :)

I thought the same thing and put it off for a long time.

It's broken up into smaller arcs really well though, so the story doesn't feel stretched (I think, anyway).

I'm about halfway through it now.

So I have been watching a lot of action animes and I want more.

These are the animes I have watched (and still are watching) and love.
Bleach, One Piece, Naruto, Beelzebub (sucks it ends), Fairy Tail, Hitman Reborn, Jo Jo's bizarre adventure, FMA and FMAB, Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate, Death Note and probably more. Kenichi Mighties Disciple, Watching Berserk just don't want to finish it since it ends on a bad note. Watching Attack on Titan and loving the hell out of it.

Can anyone recommend some animes I might like? I have watched more than that but I didn't list them. Thanks for the help.

Update:
To help narrow things down a bit. This is my favorite type of anime.

I like animes where there is a guy that gets or has some sort of skill. Either a super power or some type of sword skills. I usually enjoy supernatural (Like bleach and Fairy Tail) over realism like Samurai Champloo. I don't mind expanding my anime reach but that would be my favorite. Something where the guy gets stronger each fight or learns something new.
Just good action animes.

Claymore, Gantz, Evangelion, HunterxHunter, Darker than Black, Tiger and Bunny, Tarou no Majutsu no Index, Kaze no Sigma, Fate/Zero, Full Metal Panic, Shin Sekai Yori and Black Lagoon would be where I'd suggest you go next.

I know the premise is stupid but people need to give Toriko a chance. Watch it till the end of the regal mammoth arc then decide if you want to keep watching or not. The fighting is just amazing and I love the characters. It's catching up to HxH as my favorite series. The current manga arc is just plain amazing when it gets animated I'll be so happy.

Supporting this. It's really not that bad an anime, the concept it's based around just seems stupid as hell at first.

Hello all,

I'm looking for something new to watch, I'm not really sure what though.

Favourites:
1. Hajime no Ippo
2. FMA (Brotherhood)
3. Death Note
4. Dragon Ball Z
5. Rurouni Kenshin
6. Code Geass

I'm trying to watch Fist of the North Star right now but I'm having a hard time getting into it. Any recommendations based on the list above?

Thanks!
