Besides Attack on Titan, The Heroic Legend of Arslan comes to mind (it's a bit old though; from 1991-93).

Others I've heard of but haven't personally seen yet are Record of Lodoss War and Guin Saga.

Another that might work is Moribito, but I'm pretty sure that's more reminiscent of mainland China than Europe.

I'm guessing you don't want shounen or harem

If you could tell us more, like what genres you like, it would be helpful, otherwise here's just a random few I've recommended to others (you may have watched them already or not)

"K" action with mystery I suppose
"Hataraku Maou-sama!" Comedy with some action/supernatural
"Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san" Also comedy with supernatural

It seems you want romantic comedies with some drama:

If you haven't watched these yet, try "The Pet Girl of Sakurasou", "Angel Beats" (has some rom-com elements), "Dusk Maiden of Amnesia", "Oreshura" (if you don't like harem shows, don't watch Oreshura), and "Kokoro Connect"

Anything similiar to Welcome to NHK? Im goin for more drama slice of real life rather than comedy. Needs a likebale realistic cast of characters, and unpredictable. Thanks

... also something as crazy as When they Cry. The suspense, the violence and the twists.

I just like really unusual animes.

I'm not familiar with Welcome to the NHK or Higurashi, but are any of these similar?

Durarara!!, Heaven's Memo Pad, and Eden of the East. I think they fit your description.

As you can imagine, Welcome to the NHK is a rather unique show; there are a couple of shows that I can think of that resemble Welcome to the NHK in some tonal aspects, but are in other ways rather different.

First, there's Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. I actually didn't much care for this show - I thought it's style and referential tendencies merely obfuscated another vapid harem. That said, a lot of folks like it, and it features a sardonic pessimist as the main character. It's tonally dark and twisted, although done in a surrealist style far removed from the general realism of Welcome to the NHK.

A show I far prefer is Tatami Galaxy. The main character is something of a mix of Tatsuhiro Satō, Kyon, and Nozomu Itoshiki. He has a sarcastic bite and a penchant for a strange self-deprecation muddled by befuddled self-righteousness. The artwork is entirely idiosyncratic and, in my opinion, incredible. The show explores human perception and interpersonal relationships, such that the main character (who is nameless) has a progression that mirrors Satō; whereas the world of Satō becomes rounder, the people of Tatami Galaxy become fuller - at least from the point of view from the protagonist. My one caution is that the speaker speaks incredibly fast. The speed of the subtitles are taxing for most viewers, although I loved them in large part because it gave great depth to the show; there were so many things to explore that repeated viewings were rewarding.

Neither of those shows are exactly like Welcome to the NHK, but their characters express similar feelings of ennui, and their tones evoke a similar feeling of sardonic contemplation. Well, at least Tatami Galaxy; again, I am skeptical about the value of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

I am looking for an over the top gory/bloody anime, but I am not looking for anything that is overly perverse. Also I have already seen all the following just so they aren't recommened.

Elfen Lied
Hellsing Original/Ultimate
All of the Blood series
Claymore
Another
Mirai Nikki

I know of the Higurashi series as well and will be watching them soon.

Have ya seen Saikano? I never have, but it's been recommended to me, and it sounds like a damn depressing mix of romance and war.

You've probably seen Baccano!, but, just in case, that's a fun show - anime Snatch set in 1920s and 30s America.

This will probably be a swing and a miss, but I thought the new A Certain Scientific Railgun series had some pretty fun stuff, although nowhere near as gnarly as Elfen Lied.

FIST OF THE NORTH STAR WAAAAAAAAAA

Well, probably not.
