I just like really unusual animes.

I'm not familiar with Welcome to the NHK or Higurashi, but are any of these similar?

Durarara!!, Heaven's Memo Pad, and Eden of the East. I think they fit your description.

Thanks for the suggestion. I liked durarara but for some reason havent gotten round to finishin it. Will have to check out the other 2

I was wondering what people think about the Persona anime? I have never played a game, although i'd like to play Persona 4. It seems interesting to me but not sure how much i'd get out of it with my lacking knowledge of the franchise.

There are actually 2 Persona animes: Persona: Trinity Soul and Persona 4 The Animation, though I know you are talking about the latter.

I played the game after watching the anime. While the game is better, the anime is quite good. And you don't need to know anything about the game in order to enjoy the show.

I am having trouble finding something new to watch. My most favorite anime of all time would be animes like Dragon Ball and DBZ, Gungrave, Vampire Hunter D, Naruto, Bleach....things like that. I also love anime that have some comedy in it. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Hey thanks, it's best to watch in that order then?

The stories aren't related in anyway. You can skip Trinity Soul completely and it won't affect your enjoyment of P4.

Seems you're looking for some shounen action anime

I'm not sure if you've seen some of these already or not so I'll just list a few:

"Hataraku Maou-sama!" (comedy with some action)
"Sword Art Online" (action)
The UNLIMITED - Hyoubu Kyousuke" (action)
"Sacred Seven" (action)
"Problem Children are Coming from Another World, aren't they?" (action with some comedy)
"Kore wa Zombie desu ka?" (comedy with some action)
"K" (action)
"Valvrave the Liberator" (mech, action)

if you haven't seen some of these shows yet, search them up on MyAnimeList.com for a synopsis to see if you would like them

As you can imagine, Welcome to the NHK is a rather unique show; there are a couple of shows that I can think of that resemble Welcome to the NHK in some tonal aspects, but are in other ways rather different.

First, there's Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. I actually didn't much care for this show - I thought it's style and referential tendencies merely obfuscated another vapid harem. That said, a lot of folks like it, and it features a sardonic pessimist as the main character. It's tonally dark and twisted, although done in a surrealist style far removed from the general realism of Welcome to the NHK.

A show I far prefer is Tatami Galaxy. The main character is something of a mix of Tatsuhiro Satō, Kyon, and Nozomu Itoshiki. He has a sarcastic bite and a penchant for a strange self-deprecation muddled by befuddled self-righteousness. The artwork is entirely idiosyncratic and, in my opinion, incredible. The show explores human perception and interpersonal relationships, such that the main character (who is nameless) has a progression that mirrors Satō; whereas the world of Satō becomes rounder, the people of Tatami Galaxy become fuller - at least from the point of view from the protagonist. My one caution is that the speaker speaks incredibly fast. The speed of the subtitles are taxing for most viewers, although I loved them in large part because it gave great depth to the show; there were so many things to explore that repeated viewings were rewarding.

Neither of those shows are exactly like Welcome to the NHK, but their characters express similar feelings of ennui, and their tones evoke a similar feeling of sardonic contemplation. Well, at least Tatami Galaxy; again, I am skeptical about the value of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

I havent heard of neither of those animes, but from how you described them I def wanna check them out. Tatami Galaxy seems like something I'll dig, espesially if theres a characted like Sato. Character development is big selling point for me.
Thanks!

I second that. That movie's got to be one of the wildest things I've ever seen.

Bored, I need something new to watch but nothing I'm currently watching is holding my interest. Started Watching D.Gray-man yesterday and I'm just not feeling it.

For a list of stuff I've watched and liked/disliked you can check the link below.
