Looking for an anime similar to The Devil is a part timer. Really enjoy the supernatural, humorous and occasional fight aspect to the anime. Too bad it only went on for such a short time.. really loved it.

Shakugan no Shana has a similar mix between the supernatural and slice of life aspects-it's a bit more focused on the supernatural and it's fairly serious.

Haiyore! Nyarko-San also is kinda like that, although it's a little more cheesy. I enjoyed it though.

But if you needs answers from members/fans of anime from crunchyroll.....
And here is a small harmless self plug in: if you are on the go and have the urge to talk about anime why not use your smart phone and go on Facebook and like the page "American Otaku" where you can talk about all and any of the anime you love to watch from crunchyroll!

Ok. I'm looking for a couple of things.

1.) Something that starts out fun or cute and then punches you in the emotions. Something like Penguindrum, Madoka Magica, Princess Tutu, or Tsuritama.

2.) A good romance anime. I'd prefer it to be set in modern time, but if you have a really good one that isn't, I'd still look into it. I don't mind if it's a serious romance or a romantic comedy, as long as their is a couple by the end of the series. I don't like open-ended harem shows. I generally don't like harems at all. If possible, I'd prefer it to not be set in high school.

A few that I've seen and liked are His and Her Circumstances, Toradora, Kimi ni Todoke, Paradise Kiss, Neighborhood Story, Nana, and Honey and Clover. I also really enjoyed Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, but I'm not into hardcore yaoi.

I already watched My Little Monster and Say I Love You, and they were pretty good, but not in my "favorites" list.

And I tried watching Clannad, Air, Ef A Tale of Memories (I actually finished this one), Kanon and other Key romances and I just couldn't into them at all.

Thanks!

I didn't check out the first one. If it's a serious 'slice o life', I usually get a little bored BUT... Nyarko-san is quite hilarious. Thanks.

Kannazuki no Miko.

I'd say its high school AND it is a yuri(if your not into that either).
But it has nice mix of mecha and romance. It starts off normal and sweet, but things start to get REALLY dark!!

My name is Jemi (pronounced Jimmy)

I like anime such as From the New World, Ergo Proxy, Death Note, and GunGrave that have deep plots with intricacies that have you question things such as morals and ideals.

A perfect example of this in live action form would be The Matrix, Inception, or Hannibal the series.

Can you please recommend me some good mind benders similar to what I just described?

And if you're also into that, add me as a friend or message me so we can talk about it! I love talking about deep plots.
