lol, didn't think of that... but lots of characters in DC and Marvel use fake names, don't they?

EDIT: As in their real names aren't ever actually released.

The Glitch there is Superman isn't his name, Most Superheros have secret IDs, almost none of them let people know their real names, in order to protect their families and loved ones (DC did a really good story called Identity Crisis emphasizing just how important that secret is.).

and I'm not certain if his name would be considered to be Clark Kent (name given to him by his adoptive parents on earth) or Kal-El (name given by his birth parents on Krypton, which he didn't even know about till he was an adult)

I just realised something again, that if Light got shinigami eyes, they would die anyways. Or he could just get another person with the eyes to. And don't say something like they can't die of a heart attack, cos he can just make die of something else, e.g. "Disappear from this universe" or "Loses all his/her powers and dies of [insert affliction here]" would work.

Moral of the story - Light is OP

The first rule of how to use the Death Note:

The human whose name is written in this note shall die.

Which means it would be rather useless, as Superman isn't a human.

LMAO. No just no.

Before we start don't even think about "DeATh NOte, lulz!" because this certain western comic-book character comes from the fifth-dimension and all the things he's able to do in our third-dimension universe is too advanced for our limited third-dimensional views.

I bet most of you have never heard/seen this character before

His name Mister Mxyzptlk and he's one of DC's most stupidly over-powered characters. He can perform any feat imaginable, which means he can reshape the fabric of reality at will, travel to parallel worlds, or even manipulate space-time continuum.

This makes him stronger than some of DC's most powerful cosmic beings (even Gods) and to make matters worse there's currently no known limit to his powers, so in a sense he's practically invincible. Oh and there's this character called Bat-Mite, who's also lives in the fifth-dimension and is just as powerful as Mister Mxyzptk.

TL:DR, Mister Mxyzptlk abilities allows him to do anything he wants in our third-dimensional universe.

I forgot to add this. The Marvel universe has the Infinity Gems which whoever controls it, controls the Universe (with this, even a mere mortal can ascend to the level of the gods.) The Living Tribunal nearly wipe the universe clean because of this gem.

The Death note will only work on humans and Superman is a Kryptonian not a human.

I like the conceptual drawing of anime over DC and other comic series. Mainly because anime character seem to have more of an impact, and power then the american comics. Weither which one is more powerful. I don't really care.

I'm the complete opposite of you. For the most part I've prefer western art style over Japanese art style mainly because their characters are usually drawn more mature (or rather looking their age) and the somewhat realism they have over Japanese art style.

I'd generally dislike CLAMP style bodies whether its male or female (there is a fine line between being skinny and suffering from anorexia), lolicon style, bishounen style, and the Japanese infatuation with GIANT EYES.

As much as an anime fan as i am, Marvel feats are insane.
If we assume goku beats everything until super man, then superman would beat everything on anime side untill... Tengen toppa gurren lagann, probably. Whilst tengen toppa gurren lagann is crazy-strong, it wouldn't beat galactus, unless it was a battle of who had the most awesome points
Infact, could anything from anime stop Galactus + UN? I don't think so =/

In the end though, Digimon probably has the most OP characters. I can't think of much more right now. If anime gets digimonverse, They would probably win =/ Maybe... ZeedMillenniummon.
No facts though. I don't feel the need to right now =/

there's a lot of limitations with the deathnote, easiest to go with is the fact that light can't make things happen if it's not possible.
He can't just make a hero/villain lose their powers any more than the hero/villain can. There's also no guarantee that he can even inflict a disease like you suggest either. It may be magic but it's still gotta follow certain rules.
If light could make someone disappear then he sure as hell could have transported that prisoner he killed to paris to die at the eifel tower like he tested. Light's not OP but he's got one hell of a weapon coupled with his greatest shield, anonymity. He lost that and that's why he got into his cat and mouse game with L, Near and Mello

I like where this thread is going. I just wish there were more people who were into both western comics and manga/anime to make more in depth analysis/arguments. I definitely don't have enough western comic knowledge to hold a decent debate. What a shame.

I think we can just agree that this hypothetical east vs west battle would probably be the greatest thing ever! Both sides have tons of characters with more than enough power to destroy the universe many times over
