It's an amazing historical supernatural anime, my second favorite, set in Pre-Revolution France, about a knight who goes investigating the death of his twin sister all the way to Russia and even England i think, only to wind up back in France. It's a kinda confusing anime, somewhat fast-paced sometimes, but everything else about the anime is so amazing, the artwork, music, characters, i don't understand why it is not popular enough.

i should add some pics:

I absolutely LOVE the ending theme for this show! It's called "Overnight." Listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqGiNB2J-PY . "Chevalier" is historical fiction. It was refreshing to see an Anime not based on the Meiji Era/Warring States period. It's easy enough to find it streaming to sample a few episodes. It's been a while since I watched it, but I did enjoy the show and the DVD extras provided lots of historical information to add an additional layer to the show like how D'Eon's gender was so up in the air, there was even a betting pool on the London Stock Exchange as to what his actual gender was for a while. I have never bothered trying to understand why some Anime become so ridiculously popular when other (more deserving) shows fall into the depths of obscurity.

FYI, for those in the U.S. that are not part of the "all dubs suck" crowd, this series is currently available on Netflix via Watch Instantly.

If you require subs (or don't have Netflix), it is available on Hulu in subtitled format. Again, U.S. only.
