So I made a thread like this last year and thought I should make one for this year. The spring lineup is almost coming to an end and we're about to welcome summer. I thought we should rank and rate the anime that we've seen this season.

Moving on...What are your picks?

Top 3 (with explanation)
1.
2.
3.

Bottom 3 (with explanation)
1.
2.
3.

Okay so here goes mine.

Top 3:
1. Gintama' - It's just the best, really. I've seen the first season, thought it did amazing, and this sequel didn't do any less! I give it a 10/10.
2. Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai - Hands down the second best drama of 2011, just steps behind the wonderful Mahou Shoujo Madoka Majica. Well the last episode did it for me. It was tear-jerking and although I failed to sympathize fully with the characters, I thought they did an amazing job for something so short. I give it an 8/10.
3. Deadman Wonderland - Yeah I know. Some of you might say it's overrated or whatever, but to me, this is the new Elfen Lied, but better. It's sad to say there's only 12 episodes of it, so I might have to follow the manga, but for a short anime, I think it did pretty well. I give it a 7/10.
Runner-ups:
C - A story about money was never original. But to spice it up with a card game and the underworld, it turned out to be quite a unique one. A 7/10.
Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko - I have mixed feelings about this. It started off great, but then it just.... *sigh* I didn't like the story about the rocket-thingies, I thought it was shallow. But it's not that serious of an anime, so I guess I can live with it. A 7/10 also.

Bottom 3:
1. Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi - Dropped. Should just be renamed as "That Cliche Anime".
2. Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai II - I just don't see the appeal of this one. It's so.... boring. I might have to re-watch it though, it's rated so high on some sites so it should be good. But for now, I dropped it and it deserves this spot.
3. Hidan no Aria - Currently put on-hold. Waiting every week for a new episode is a struggle. I always forget who's who because they're all so bland and forgettable. I'll watch it when it's finished.
----------------------------------
As you can see, I didn't watch all of the anime of the spring lineup. I'm quite picky but I'm sure I'll watch the others one of these days.

Now that I'm done. I want to see youuuuuuuuuurs!!!!

Please avoid flaming, ranting too much and spamming guys! If you find this thread stupid and rather pointless, feel free to report it.

Indexing this in the General Anime Discussion Thread and saving this spot for anime "reviews".

Edit: Writing up the reviews. There may be spoilers, you are warned, and this is only a review of animes that have finished. They are in no order yet.

So lets start this horrible review.

AnoHana
(Spoilered for length.)

[C] - The Money of Soul and Possibility Control
(Currently in the process of writing)

Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa nai- We without Wings
(May be too lazy to write a proper review so a short paragraph should suffice.)

Top 3 (with explanation)
1. Hanasaku Iroha 10/10: Well Balance of Comedy and Drama, Romance is present but kind of lacking a bit,I look forward to watching the next episode each time I watch the current ep (Ongoing, Watching it on CR Saturdays)
2. Steins;Gate 9/10 : Very entertaining anime despite some of the confusion I got, Plot twists make me look forward to watching the next episode (Ongoing, Watching it on CR Tuesdays)
3. Nichijou-My Ordinary Life 8/10 : Very Entertaining anime with no boring episodes, alot of randomness and very funny scenes, one could simply rewatch this anime and never get bored of it (Ongoing, Watching it on CR Saturday/Sundays)

Inbetween(in no paticular order):

Tiger and Bunny (Ongoing, Watching it on Hulu every Saturdays) As of now I give it a 8/10 : I like the product placement , this anime for a change has a character this is in there 30s and has a kid(you dont see too many like that these or ever I think), character development slowly progresses among the duo and also among the interaction with other superheroes, each episode has the duo(at times with the help of other superheroes) fight villian/criminals <----based on the first 5 episodes that I have seen

Hidan no Aria - Aria the Scarlet Ammo (episode 11 and 12(final) next week, Watching it on Hulu Tuesday) As of now I give it a 7/10

Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko (Final episode next week) As of now I give it a 7/10 : Visually its great, plot etc are not in par with the animation though, there is this Shaft feel to the anime, if you watch other anime from Shaft and you watched this anime without knowing that this anime was also from Shaft you probably would be thinking this is a Shaft anime

30 sai no Hoken Taiiku (finished) As of now I give it a 7/10 : Despite the episode having 10 min per episodes, it was oddly entertaining, the main character is a 30 yr old male virgin who, with the help of a sex god, tries to get rid of his virginity, I think this anime was also meant to be an educational anime though the comedy really overthrew it
FYI: This is not a H-anime

Lotte no Omocha- Astarotte's Toy (Final episode this week, Watching it on CR Sunday) 7/10 The synposis does not do the anime justice, yes the character design are suggestive, but if you stick around to watch the last few episodes you will really be in something enjoyable as the anime gets some drama and a possible bittersweet ending

Beelzebub (Ongoing, Watching it on CR Saturdays) As of now I give it a 6/10 My rating for this anime, if asked at the time the anime first aired or a couple of weeks after its premiere my rating would've been higher, but it has slowly decreased as more episode were airing

Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi - A bridge to the Starry Skies (Final episode next week on Monday Watching on CR on Thursday) As of now I give it a 6/10 This anime is generic to the point where you can already find out who the main character will be with just by watching the first episode, nothing unique about this anime other than its mild fanservice(its odd for anime like this to have that level of fanservice) which to me is a bit of a letdown since really there isnt much to look at, the anime moved to quickly to really provide any solid character development which results in a forced plot.

[C]-Control (Currently on hold until the last episode is posted/streamed on Hulu) As of now I give it a 6/10 <--- Rating based on first episode have yet to finish watching the entire anime...

Maria Holic Alive (Final episode this week) As of now I give it a 7/10 Watched the first season a few months ago, have to say this anime about the same as the first season, but my rating for the first season is higher since it was the first time I watched an anime like Maria Holic in terms of the theme and situation: a yuri anime that isnt actually yuri and is also a comedy, with the main character, who gets hive whenever in contact with a male, falling(at first sight) for a cross dressing male student at a all girls academy. Nothing special about the second season other than new characters

Ao no Exorcist - Blue Exorcist (Ongoing, Watching it on CR Wednesdays) As of now I give it a 8/10 : First episode was good, second episode was great, later episodes (up to current) are decent, it seems to be progress steadily each episode.

Bottom 3 (with explanation)
1. Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa nai - We Without Wings 6/10: The anime was a bit confusing but really started to make sense towards the end, a bit fanservicey. I did enjoy watching it (Finished)
2. Softenni 6/10 : Sport(soft tennis) Anime had little connection to the sport and had alot of fanservice, plot seem to progress slowly but in a way it was entertaining to watch (Final episode next week)
3. Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai II - The World God Only Knows 5/10 - Anime was a bit plain, funny at times, but I had a hard time trying to go and watch the next episode since it was boring (Final episode next week, Watching it on CR Monday)

Have yet to watch or finish Anohana, A-channel, Moshidora, Seikon no Qwaser II, and Sket Dance

From what I've seen this season would be my list.

Top 3:
1. Nichijou - Its a crazy high school slice of life comedy anime. Not all of its short segments are funny but the ones that are good are generally hilarious. Theres no plot but the characters are generally unique and enjoyable. 9/10
2. Stein's Gate - The characters and plot are interesting. Okarin is easily one of my favorite characters of the season and the antics between the lab members can be pretty hilarious. Behind all that is what is becoming a rather serious plot. 8/10
3. X-Men - Much better than the other marvel animes. The action is good and the plot is a lot more engaging this time around as well. It does lack some of the usual characters you would see in the x-men but that helps bring to light some other characters you normally wouldn't see. 8/10

Other honorable mentions:
Gintama - Its Gintama and its back. I'd put it in my top 3 but this is an anime that has gone on for more than just the spring season and has plenty of recognition.
Gosick - Continuing from last season its become a lot more than a mystery anime. Lots of drama and the central plot begins to mix with the characters and mysteries as it moves along. It also has one of the most absolute monsters I've seen in an anime in quite a while.
The World God Only Knows S2 - Keima is still one of my favorite harem protagonists and the anime is still quite good but I feel that they dragged out some of the character arcs in this season and they still haven't gotten to the meat of the plot.
Hyouge Mono - An interesting take on the sengoku era. It doesn't stray too far from history and instead of revolving more around the battles of the era it focuses on aesthetics and the characters. It also has its funny moments as well. Overall its pretty unique but not everyone would like it.
Dog Days - Centers around an athletic high schooler who's summoned into a fantasy world that makes sport of war as they have a system where people are only defeated instead of killed in battle. The action is good and the plot is pretty decent although it takes a while to get serious.
Battle Girls Time Paradox - Rule 63 applied to the sengoku era. You might expect this to be a yuri fanservice fest considering all the characters are female and while it does have some fanservice in it the plot is mostly good. Focuses on a girl named Hideyoshi who gets thrown back in time and ends up serving under Nobunaga who seeks to conquer the land by gathering pieces of a legendary crimson armor.

Bottom 3:
1. Hidan no Aria - A cliche anime with some of the worst female characters I've ever seen. The main character has the power to go into uber douchebag mode and somehow do uber things that his normal wussy self couldn't. What little plot there is was just absolutely ruined by the characters, fanservice, and just pure ridiculousness of the anime. 3/10
2. Sket Dance - Its essentially the less funny high school version of Gintama. The main characters are even similar to Gintoki, Kagura, and Shinpachi. There isn't really much of a plot as it revolves around them solving individual cases but none of the cases themselves are that interesting. 5/10
3. Showa Monogatari - I think the main problem with this anime is that it caters to a very specific type of audience. Its somewhat interesting if you want to see what the showa era of japan is like but neither the characters nor plot were particularly interesting. 4/10

This is based from what I've seen. If I'd watched everything that came out this spring then my bottom 3 would be different.

I'm ashamed to say I only watched one anime this spring, Sekai-Ichi Hatsukoi, which I really liked. Typical tasteful yaoi but very well done.
I started watching Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa nai - We Without Wings but that was just poop. I can handle fanservice as long as it has a good story. That one was just all over the place...I gave it a two episode try, that dropped it like it was hot!

Disclaimer: I haven't watched a lot of the shows from this season because I tend to stick with genres that I have a very good chance of enjoying, and some of the popular strong anime this season just didn't appeal to me.

1] Gintama: Started off with the usual Gintama vibe, and hit an epic arc right at that perfect Gintama moment. <3

2] Fairy Tail: It just keeps getting better; emotions will be moved as this anime is watched.

3] Ao no Exorcist/Sket Dance: They seems as if they will be able to go a long way in their stories; every episodes I've felt very emotional (positively or negatively), though admittedly, moreso with Sket Dance...The Hime Arc was just wow <3

No bottom 3 for me.

Top 3:
1. AnoHana- This show was the best drama I've seen in a while. I literally cried in a few episodes, especially the ending. Probably the best ending I've seen for an anime series. Potential Anime of the Year Candidate in my opinion. Yeah this show really got me and no other show got me like this ever.

2. [C] The money of Soul and Possibility Control: I'm not done with it yet, but this show kept me entertained throughout the entire series. So I must give props to this show

3. Nichijou- Downright hilarious anime! I only watched it at the start of Spring simply due to the fact that this is made by KyoAni, an Animation Studio I greatly respect. I didn't know it would turn out to make me laugh like hell! XD Nichijou is awesome!

Bottom 3:
1. Hidan no Aria: Began to watch the show and to say the least, it wasn't that entertaining. It does have its moments but it does not appeal to me a whole lot, kind of like AnoHana did this season. And it's kind of the same ol story with a Tsundere pretty much being the hero of the show only with more fanservice but it does not help out either way for me. So yeah it's in the bottom 3 for me.

2. nothing

From the shows i've watched atleast an episode of

Top 3
1. Steins;Gate - Awesome blend of brilliant characters, slow-yet increasingly thrilling story and genuinely smart humour which is directed perfectly.
2. Tiger & Bunny - Semi-"deconstruction" of the hero "genre". While I can understand alot of people not liking it, I find it entertaining as someone who has had very little exposure or interest at all in stereotypical American hero stories.
3. Hanasaku Iroha - It's had it's ups (and MAJOR downs) but it's geneuinely a nice story that doesn't challenge the viewer too much and just tells you a nice and sometimes heart-warming story. Nice to watch on a Sunday Afternoon on Crunchyroll

Hon. Mentions
Blue Exorcist - I feel it's just blending and reducing itself to another generic high-school shounen show. However it is a very well done generic high-school shounen show, so i'll keep watching as long as it is entertaining.
Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko - Very entertaining for a variety of SHAFTY reasons, I can't put it higher because i still have no idea what the conclusion of this is even wrapping up to be, I just don't get.. it..

Bottom 3
1. A-Channel - The only ever show to make me physically sleepy, i'd recommend it as a sleep-aid rather than entertainment.
2. Deadman Wonderland - Too focused on making it wacky and creepy to have a story I can take seriously let alone enjoy - and don't get me started on the horrendous dialogue, I feel sometimes the "writers" are thinking of more ingenious ways to make me attach the palm of my hand to my face every episode.
3. Hidan no Aria - There isn't a damn good thing about this, dropped it after the first episode. A prime example of a stupid plot trying to take itself seriously, which is my biggest turnoff when you're trying to visualize the show and form opinions of the characters based on how they act.

-Others,
Nichijou (inconsistent humour, but impressive visuals)
TWGOK II (Okay.. Okay.. that's about it, changing the formula a bit from the first season, but. It's okay. nothing special.
Dog Days (Cookie cutter plot, but still enjoyable)
SKET Dance (A more restricted version of Gintama - The possiblities of the highschool setting aren't as endless as the historical/sci-fi of Gintama. - Still rather enjoyable though.

I'd put Gintama here, but I don't think it should count as spring since it's a continuation and it'll be going for awhile, just know it'd be rated highly if I did.

46. Maria Holic Alive

This was the first TAN simulcast I did not watch as it came out each week, but it appears that was a good call.

In fact, I have yet to start it, having just finished the original series four days ago. I would not say I dislike it (gave it a 6/10 on MAL), but given that I started it around the start of the Spring season, one can see I was in no hurry to complete it.

How would you say Alive compares to the original series?

I gave the original a 4... I never really liked the series, but this season was definitely worse, and it could hardly even keep my attention at times... Now that I think about it, this is probably the lowest rating I've ever given a comedy series.

I'm actually 4 eps behind from when I had exams, so maybe the episodes towards the end are better.
