I was just siting thing about what the next anime that i was going to watch was going to be and it hit me... I've been watching Naruto approaching nine years now and i am now astonished on how a show can keep me coming back for that long of a time. I don't think many other shows can do that and i was just wondering what others thought about this and what anime i should watch next! Enjoyyy

Heh, I'm not really a big Naruto fan, since I dropped the whole anime when Itachi died. It seems boring after that, and I haven't gone back to it since.

Have you tried Shaman King?
Have you tried Prince of Tennis?

I used to watch Naruto ... then it got boring. It got too predictable. Plus, it's too slow & filled with fillers (annoying).

Number 1 on what basis? Popularity vote on CR? If so, keep in mind one of the big 3 isn't here.

In Japan, One Piece trounces both it and Bleach each week in the TV ratings. Indeed, most of the time, you could combine the ratings for both together, and OP would still come out ahead. (For the record, I don't even watch One Piece or Naruto, so I have no reason to be biased).

'Cause it's always listed first on basically everything I've ever seen it listed on. If nothing else it's number 1 in my heart ;)

I've never watched OP until it was on Toonami I never got to see it straight through only by chance but what I did see I enjoyed a lot. There will always be haters with illogical reason to why they don't like a certain series and why their anime they watch is cooler than yours. Like this guy!

Come up with some better than predictable because it's anything but. It is slow at times yes and it drives me crazy but if you've watched Kaiji you would think Naruto is fast paced. Naruto isn't the best anime out there but obviously it can't be bad if it's been running so long. Filler is there so you can get a feel of the characters and watch them through their experiences first hand. You're argument is invalid and sounds like everyone else who hasn't given it a chance. IT'D BE POINTLESS TO END THE SERIES FAST OR OUT OF NOWHERE PEOPLE WOULD WANT MORE.

I'm not singling this person out by the way. So don't get all upset about it. It's to everyone who says this because thousands do.

It's just popular, but that's it.

I watched it a few times, and ended up dropping each time. I guess I'll have to wait till it's finally over so I can marathon this bitch.

You should watch One Piece next. It'll make you forget about Naruto so fast it's not even funny.

You may think Naruto is good, but I'd still pick Gintama, Detective Conan, Saint Seiya, Hunter x Hunter, Hikaru no go, Fairy Tail, and One Piece on the top of it.

As a huge fan shonen anime, I loved Naruto at some point. But the story went so melancholic it became unbearable. Sasuke became so emo, Sakura such a stupid bitch, and Naruto depressed. Naruto got too melodramatic overall.

I still watch it because there's still interesting things like Jiraya/Pain's events, but the amount of recaps lately is just dreadful, and people still call that good writing. No, really.

You know what, I agree with you. Naruto has been getting on my nerves and it did get too over-dramatic through the years, but I still continue to watch it because I want to continue what I started with Naruto to the end. I mean I did start watching it the year it came out in 1999. To relieve some stress, I give Naruto a a break from time to time, since I already know what is going to happen in the anime by reading the manga. I wait till the anime builds up again and than watch it, instead of waiting for each episode to come out every week. I do the same thing with the manga. Trust me, you will feel a whole lot better if you do it that way, especially if your an impatient person like myself. Lol!!!! Good luck!

What really bugs though is how they only concentrate on one female character, and one female I cannot stand either. its very annoying. That's one of the main reasons why this anime gets on my nerves.

This, my friends, is the most sensible thing I've read on this thread.

There are some good parts to the anime, especially since Shippuden, but the biggest problem overall in Naruto is the fillers. I mean, more then half of it is filler episodes. Same can be said for Bleach. One Piece's plotline is such that you can't tell whether it's having fillers or not, because it's not really a plot related anime/manga (so far as I've read) - But it's much, much better then Naruto.

The fact that it's a long running anime doesn't have anything to do with it being good or not. It just has to be popular with the masses. Most of the anime considered "the best" are anime that target a niche group, and focus on particular points in the genre.

It should also be noted that Naruto is targetted at children. And, children being the biggest group of anime watchers out there, of course it would be predictable. Also, if you've watched something ever since you were young, and never ended up watching anything better, of course you would think that it was "the best".

Also, the fillers are there to make time for the manga to catch up. Don't gimme this shit about fleshing out characters, especially in Naruto and Bleach, where they literally make their characters stand there for 50 episodes in the middle of an arc, putting out and "memories" that aren't even related to the general plotline. At least 99% of the fillers weren't even created by the creators of the characters, rather, they were created by the anime companies to, I'll state it again, Fill up time for the manga to catch up.

And don't compare Naruto's pacing to Kaiji. Sure, it might be faster, but compared to the pacing of general anime, it's very slow.

Finally, your statement of "IT'D BE POINTLESS TO END THE SERIES FAST OR OUT OF NOWHERE PEOPLE WOULD WANT MORE." is entirely true. But you also have to think about it this way. LOTS OF MANGA AND ANIME SERIES OUT THERE E.G. NARUTO AND BLEACH DRAG ON TOO MUCH BECAUSE THE PEOPLE WANT MORE. They could have wrapped up ages ago, but because the masses wanted more, the mangaka wasn't allowed to/didn't want to end the series, and as a result, the quality of the storyline and plot deteriorated.

Naruto's been around for about nine years. True, technically. Keep in mind that there's almost two or more years worth of fillers.

And that during actual plot driving episodes they spend half of it recapping what happened. So really, only about a half of it is actual plot material.
