Five chapters a day, starting next Monday, let’s all start reading and then discussing here. It will give us some motivation to keep up our bible reading. We’ll start on page one and work our way through. What do yall say?

Okay, here’s how it’s going to work. I feel called to lead us through the old testament so I’m going to do just that. However, I’m going to create a second thread for the N.T, and I need somebody to run it because I can’t divide my attention between two.

We’ll systematically go through the bible cover to cover in the group that I’ll lead. The N.T group, however, will focus on the N.T.

However, some things I want to point out:

We are from many denominations. You can read multiple versions of the bible but this one is for the strictly non-denominational. In other words books specific to one denomination will be excluded from this study. So, no apocrypha, and no Book of Mormon. Should somebody like they can create a study group dedicated to those, but many of us do not believe in those books. To avoid causing unnecessary strife amongst Christians I’ve decided to simply use the books that we all agree on.

o cool a bible study Forum....good idea cuz Im a noob when it comes to this bible stuff right now.

So where do we start...in the beginning of the bible or 1 John? Im confused now. Maybe we should all start in Genesis. It seems easier that way. It's a new year anyways right..might as well start from the beginning So where do we start? officially.

Well, new covenant would be more hopeful to christians. O.T is mostly the covenant of Law. But I usually jump when I read. Then I'll go back to what I was reading some other time.

Yea I agree with Fae, the New Testament books would be a good place to start. Of course, it is important to read the Old Testament because of it's history and lessons, but N.T has more life-applicable lessons. Start with Matthew, and I think we should either finish the whole N.T. then start O.T., or read N.T. except Revelation, and save Revelation until after O.T. because that book is difficult to understand.

I think it would be more sagacious to start in genesis. The old testament is harder for Christians to get through, and a major purpose behind this thread is to help motivate us to start reading the bible. However, I think I’ll split this into two groups. One for the new testament and one for the old. Anyone can participate in either or both, should they choose.

What'cha'll think about that?

2 groups: one for the OT and the other for the NT...sounds good if you plan to have 2 seperate forums for each group...but in one forum.....it seems to be too much..I like the idea that maybe we should just concentrate on just one group and start on the NT since it seem to be a good idea, right?

If u think about it, even though it seems like a great idea; having two groups mean that there has to be two forums for bible study that way it's organized and everyone won't get confused in each others conversations between NT and OT do u see what Im trying to say...it just seems very confusing to have 2 groups of NT And OT ppl, reading 2 sections of the bible and then comming back in here ( in this one forum) and conversing with each other about the 2 sections of the bible...it seems confusing and alittle messy. I say that if we decide to and should start in the NT and go just start from there then it'll be better plus it seems easier so that everyone can keep track of what is going on in this forum since this is the forum for Bible studying.

So Id say that we a a group should focus on one subject at a time in this forum rather than 2 subjects. anywho, So what do we all agree on here O.T. or the N.T.? Im all up for the NT. if its gonna help motivate ppl to start reading there. Why not!!

Maybe, but I feel called to help Christians read the old testament, and that’s why I created this thread. So we can simply make two threads, one labeled new, one labeled old. Forgive me if I seem stubborn, but I’m just trying to do what I feel God has called me to do.

I believe that the old testament is really important. I really desire to dive deaper into it. There's more to it than just history.
