Feminine Boys/Men
Posted 6/30/11

Not judging but we are who we are even if we don't veer society towards wanting girly guys. I don't have any problems with this but if media completely drowns out masculinity by some point and replaces it with a complete majority of males who you would mistake for female, and the western popular "Jersey shore" male.

Then I will renounce my humanity and purchase a backwards gun.

I think feminine boys are Ok.. after all its just they're physical appearance and the way they clothe themselves... I also think wearing girly clothes but acting like a real gentleman is way more cooler.

well, masculine and feminine are largely just imaginary constructs by people trying to make a distinction, if a guy feels 'feminine' is him, thats how he should be...same with girls

I think it's ultimately because we're not asserting gender roles as we used to. And that really isn't a bad thing either. But because of that, how people behave is based more on how they want to act as opposed to how they're told to act. As such, because men don't feel as much pressure to be "masculine," they aren't being as "masculine."

One thing, and something that bothers me about the words and masculine and feminine, is that they're inherently stereotypical. What they are really defined as, to some degree, is that masculinity refers to what is stereotypical of a male, and likewise femininity is defined as what is stereotypical of a female. To say men should be masculine is saying "here's a stereotype. Follow it," which honestly is kind of offensive. I'm not that masculine (or feminine for that matter), but I really don't like it when people say I should follow a stereotype just because, well, it's a stereotype.

I like my guys to look clean, and neat, but not feminine.

I can't stare at a guy and think "He's hot." if he somehow reminds me of a woman.

Strong jawline, thick eyebrows, short hair, and a nice muscular build. No skinny jeans or tight shirts.

Feminine looking men are hot!
Soft skin, delicate features, so beautiful.
Besides, genetics change, our structure, skeletons, features, skin...everything

I did say, in my post - this is my personal preference unless you missed it. I was only asking for you opinion on feminine men which is the topic, - not to have a go at my personal views which you seem to be implying in your statement.

I was pointing out the double standards yes, it wasn't meant to be an attack, but if you want to take it that way you have the right to and I'm not going to try and change your mind.

And i did state my opinion on the matter. Though it is rather subtle.

Why I think they do:

Because they want to be, just like girls wanted to be when they had a revolution and started wearing pants.

And my general thoughts on the whole matter:

if you don't like them, then don't date\friend\look at them and don't expect anyone to conform to fit your liking.

I don't expect anyone to conform to my liking, but that won't stop me from having an opinion about the matter, just like how you did not agree with my post, but you looked at it, and commented on it anyways. Which is rather a double standard and blatant contradiction in your favor, since you told me not to, but you did so anyways.

That picture made me lol so hard. I would of honestly though the guys on the right were girls had it not specifically said they're male.

I personally think that how a guy looks in the face, and what he does with his hair, doesn't really make a guy less manly. (Unless he wears make up). But as far as the whole masculine part I think guys are prioritizing their products and clothes over working out, hence less masculine (because they think they look good enough in the face etc, so they don't need to lift weights). I think guys should work out properly, because honestly, if I'd been born a girl, I would never date a guy I could beat down myself. Lol. Sorry if that made me seem like a douche :). I think a perfect example of a guy who's not just good looking in the face, but he also takes care of his body, is Taylor Lautner. I respect that dude regardless of his role in Twilight, haha.

Personally i think that the reason they make girlie guys is to appeal to younger audiences(like 6 year olds and stuff but not all anime do that) They should also make alot more anime with less girl guy. i mean really who wants a girlie guy. also i feels like the guys who are girlie are also wimpy again who want a wimpy guy.

I answered you because you asked for answers and opinions. Had you not asked I would have moved on without a word because i rarely comment on forums. Also i don't dislike you, sorry if you thought that.

EDIT 2
- Another thing I have noticed - I posted the exact same topic on another non-anime website and the overwhelming majority of the comments was totally different, and rather heatedly against feminine/girly looking boys/men. Out of curiosity, for the third time, I posted this topic on yet another anime website and I got for the most part, the same sort of response I'm getting on Crunchyroll - the support of feminine/girly looking boys/men.This sparks a question - do you like these sort of men, because they're the type who are featured so often in anime/manga/J-pop or K-pop?

I do think it has to do with that they are featured and we have gotten accustom to it. But I also think it could be that because they are featured in these media those who really hate them wouldn't watch it and thus not have a presence here on the site.

Clothes dont make the man.... the ever so epic quote/saying proves the OPs PoV.
To be an individual is one thing, but to emulate another person is just impressionability at its most obvious point. to purposely make urself appear more feminine to appease people have nothing to do with being themselves, it just proves alot of minds are still even at this day and age VERY malleable. a man should be proud of wut he is just as a woman should be proud to be one, to be a man and emulate a womans features to seem more approachable or w/e the reasons may be, is beyond me. be a man and rock those features most females cant by nature...

Anyone knows it's awkward for a straight guy to be acting dainty.....and well gay

I'm just speaking for the rest of the straight girls here.
