Why do you even watch anime Andydono?

*facepalm* I obviously watch it for the porn .

You aren't watching the right series then. The demographic is for kids and isn't meant to be taken seriously by older people.

What the target audiences is for kids? I didn't know that. Holy shit this is some mind blowing concept!!!!

Its like I said before I don't mind kiddy cartoons, hell I still watch Spongebob Sqaurepants and Fairy Odd Parents occasionally, but it really gets stale when the majority of anime/manga are filled with teenagers performing task that are usually done by adults.

Most people watch anime because it makes you feel young again.

I don't what your smoking, but that clearly isn't the main reason why most people watch them. Most people watch them because its another form of entertainment and to many folks; a temporarily escape from reality.

Seeing the good guy beat the bad guy satisfies us and gives us hope in this world where nothing happens.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Yeah and Japan's recent disaster totally didn't happen, a good chunk of Chinese people totally didn't have the dance of joy on Japan's recent disaster, a massive earthquake of 7.0 magnitude totally didn't hit the capital of Haiti, Port-au- Prince killing 230,000 people, the Pickton case totally didn't happen where a former pig farmer murders a handful of women for 20 years, Harold Camping totally didn't predict March 21st 2011 to be our Judgement day and scammed 80 million US dollars from retarded families and individuals for his campaign, Harold Camping totally didn't make another prediction that on October 21st is the real "physical" Judgement day whereas March 21st was just the "spiritual" event, 5 famous Picasso paintings worth 100 million euros were totally not stolen from the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Vancouver (Canada) totally didn't have a riot after the 2011 Stanley Cup finals, and the Olympics totally didn't happened last year.

Your shelter lifestyle must suck, I recommend getting your daily news updated once in a while.

It seems like you would have more fun watching a security camera in someone's room. Nobody would watch a show about a man who no one relates to whose wife left him and kids disowned him while we watch as he sits in he's underwear neck deep in apathy with the climax and ending being nothing happens.

I'd totally agree and that's why people clearly don't watch shows such as CSI (any variation), House, or Supernatural. Troll harder my friend.

Im also noticing that most anime characters is around 14 years old for a long time. Maybe the reason is to make it more attractive to audience and tend to be cute. Older-aged characters are too serious sometimes.

I know this may seem like a trolling type of question, but I've watched much anime over > 10 years and I TRULY do want to know something.

Why is so much Japanese anime full of 14 year old kids. Furthermore, why are these usually whiny and girl fearing, boys?

As an American who's never been to Japan, is it just me, but it bugs me to no end not understanding why this is an extremely pervasive precept of so many shows I've seen.

Thanks.

I remember reading this fact somewhere: Age 14 is when kids enter high school. High School is the best time of every young Japanese citizen's life whereas in America it's the college years that are the best years. So many Japanese folks have really good memories about that time.

As for the whiny, girl-fearing boys: Japan is a patriarchal society, more so than America. In Japan, it always falls on the guys to initiate contact with the girls. That puts alot of pressure on young, inexperienced guys, and it makes them nervous. In real life, I've seen Japanese exchange students who act like this with both Japanese girls and girls from other groups. In my view, they always have the "nice guy aura" [or the "younger brother aura"] about them, and they're easy for someone like me to approach (Think Kujo from Gosick). Unfortunately, it's irritating trying to communicate with them because they start acting as if they're seeing a ghost whenever I'm around. Perhaps anime that has the shy male protagonist is meant to target these shy guys in real life. Just a thought.

PS -- Yeah, I know they have feminism in Japan, but alot of girls still allow the guys to do all the work when it comes to the dating situation.

Its high school yo!!! If ya dont like it dont watch it.

As i saw above 14 is when they go to high school (idk about that) but go back to your high school days and see if you can relate.

As for the weak male lead, id say they might of tried strong male lead and it didnt work out so well for them and they got a better reaction from the Japanese audience to weak male leads.

Either way most of the typical high school animes are crap but some are good so its all up to personal preference.

Interesting - I thought that but nice to get it confirmed. Also, I have it from an impeccable source (a collegue who taught English in Japan for 5 years) that the push for success in school - working all the time etc, is worse for middle school than HS, whereever that might fit...
I'm afraid I DON'T watch many anime w/children (ok, 14 yr old HS kids) as the protaganists. I do watch Bleach, ok, but lots of older characters in that. My other 2 favs are Cowboy Bebop (Ed's the only child) & Gintama (in their 20s with older characters). So they are out there.
Oh, & maybe a majority of watchers are teens, I guess, but there are many, many watchers out there, like me, who are considerably older than that. Some of us started watching anime when Speed Racer was the only one....
These are NOT kiddie shows, sorry.
