[I feel like I shouldn't be the one talking about this as I'm not very historically educated..someone had to tell you about it. >_> You'll take from it what you can.]

I used to nerd it up in my high school's library whenever I had the free time, and one day I found this:

Despite the colors on the cover, the entire book is done in black and white - and purposely done, I'm guessing, as the book isn't all sweet and happy. I feel the color scheme (or lack of it) helps to portray a feeling.

Wiki description (because I'm far too lazy:) Persepolis is a French-language (adapted in English) autobiographical comic by Marjane Satrapi depicting her childhood up to her early adult years in Iran during and after the Islamic revolution. The title is a reference to the ancient capital of the Persian Empire, Persepolis.

Okay, me again. Obviously this description does it NO JUSTICE.

\/ They asked her not to run beforehand. : / She persisted.

Check it out.

An animated film adaption was made in 2007. I haven't seen it, unfortunately Just a few clips. Buuut..some of that is in color. Still, fans of the book will definitely want to see the movie.

Here's a clip (French w/ English subtitles:)

Oh lol she didn't go to jail, but because the men felt she was being profane (the way her body moved in her dress when she ran,) they were going to arrest her. The rules were very strict for women then..still might be? Like I said, I'm not the one who should be speaking about the historical aspect of it. >_<

But it's a story about the life of a girl growing up right after the Iranian Revolution. She tells of all her struggles in the books.
