Whats with the 12 episodes?

Almost all of the new shows coming have 12 episodes or 13. I just find it disapointing cause i personally love 24 or more episode animes

Think of it like a springboard or a testing of the waters. It may or may not be a uber popular manga to be considered investing that many episodes for.

I know how you feel, it often seems the series that are only 12-13 episodes seem to have better content, drama, and overall feel to the series than the ones that are 24+.

13 weeks=quarter of a year. Less weeks=more time for upcoming anime that might do better. It's all a question of money.

well ova's are still coming back higurashi has 4 ova's coming out then there was the 5 or was it 6 ova's for ore no imouto that where only available on DVD/bluray which give a huge insensitive to buy the hard copies. Hell kodomo no jikan has 8 ova's out alone but then again that series is just well..ahem moving on i don't see ova's going way but i see them as a huge selling point now for dvd's/blurays hell even dead man wonder land and the world only god know's has one coming out as well.. I just hope they make it state side.

Admittingly, I still consider 4 to be short. The longer ones seem to be taking forever. Kodomo no Jikan's been around for quite a while; even the first 6 episodes were licensed in America. (It was released as 'A Forbidden Time.') Hellsing Ultimate seems to be one of the exceptions to my mind, though even with the bigger name, it's still moving at a snail's pace. By the longer ones, I'm referencing things like the old 13-ep Record of Lodoss War series. Though I'd not mind being wrong if longer ones start coming out again more regularly, even if it does stay rather... slow...

I don't mind a short series every now and again, but why the heck was Deadman Wonderland only 12 episodes and Hana-saku Iroha is 26? WUT.

Because Hanasaku Iroha is a work of art, and DW is utter garbage.

LOL, to each their own, I guess, because I think the opposite.

Deadman Wonderland was a massive flop in Japan (didn't sell enough to make the rankings, meaning it sold under 1000 copies), while Hanasaku Iroha is projected around 10k (which is considered major success level).

I'm sure Mangaglobe is really happy they didn't make Deadman Wonderland more than 12.

REALLY!? Wow, to me, that seems insane, but I guess cultural differences and personal preferences vary greatly.

It was only planned for 12 episodes at first if it sold well a second season would have been made by the looks of things that will never happen a damn shame Deadman wonderland deserved a full 24 episodes but nothing we can do about it :(.

I've noticed a trend also to see a longer series go: 12 pause, 12 pause. rather than be released back to back. it's probably to allow a chance to see if the current season's revenues justify green lighting another season.

I know... It pretty much pisses me off since it kinda rushes the ending and therefore ruins the plot of the story (the manga is now uninteresting), but I guess it's the funding and also they just want to create a animation for the series (just to get it over with). In other cases it would be the end of the first season, and another 12 ep would be the second season
