Usagi Drop Available on CR
Usagi Drop (Bunny Drop) Wikipedia's Plot Summary: When thirty-year-old Daikichi returns home for his grandfather's funeral he learns about the existence of Rin, his grandfather's illegitimate six-year-old daughter by an unknown mother. The girl is an embarrassment to all his relatives and is treated as an outcast. Annoyed by their attitude, Daikichi decides to take care of Rin himself, even though he is single and has no experience raising a child. As Rin becomes part of his life, Daikichi experiences the hardship of a single parent. He is befriended by the mother of Kouki Nitani, a single mother, who gives him advice on raising Rin. After a year has passed, Daikichi acknowledges his sacrifices for Rin has been worth it. Ten years later, Rin is a high-school student and tries to figure out how to deal with her feelings for Kouki, and her decision for a career. Opening Theme: "Sweet Drops" by PUFFY Ending Theme: "High HighHigh" by kasarinchu Episodes: 12 Interview with Usagi Drop Scriptwriter Episode 1 A nice slow paced anime so far. The first episode introduces us to Daikichi's family and Rin. Daikichi is visiting the home of his grandfather after several years and to pay his respects to his grandfather. The realism so far, in both characters and setting, is excellent and animated well. The character portrayals, interactions, and voicing reflect human movements which I enjoy. The animation is highly detailed when focused on the characters but when not focusing on the characters it is just mainly sketches. The Opening and Endings are both interestingly animated, they both seem to reflect childish sketches or drawings. Overall, Usagi Drop is slow paced but uses the first episode to illustrate Daikichi and Rin's meeting and interactions well. Edit: Added the interview with Usagi Drop's scriptwriter. Also writing a full impression at this moment. |

I think this will be the most heart warming, cutest and most realistic slice of life show of this season. I really like the manga, and after watching episode 1 - I know I will be watching the rest and enjoy every part of it.
Tiny spoiler Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Really dislike that attention angry girl though, even in the manga. Especially when she asked for Rin's cat's cradle and claimed she had done it. All my anger. |

Guess I'm the only one who didn't like it. Not only was it as boring as I thought it'd be the style and animation was even worse. Looks like a lifeless watercolor painting half the time. Not saying it's bad but don't see myself watching more.

I will openly admit that this only appeals to a certain audience like most shoujo shows or how most shounen are targeted towards males. However this is just a personal opinion however but everyone has their own taste. Have the image below as a gift lol |

I'm a sucker for series with family theme, maybe that's why I love watching Supernatural so much.
Spoiler for manga Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Although I've felt the quality of the series dropped when they skipped 10 years into the future and the story focused the life of Rin as a highschooler. I don't mind skipping years, but don't go making the time skip feel so rush and I dislike (not hate) the fact that it now feels like any other highschool melodrama. |

I really like it because, i've been enjoying the manga, as well. Plus, there aren't many josei series here on CR so, it really stands out.

Continued spoilerish for the manga Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide I think it is fine, it would probably have gotten boring fast if they didn't skip 10 years ahead. Besides, Rin doesn't behave like most main characters do when in certain situations. She is more calculated, calm and USUALLY thinks things through. For instance the case with her childhood friend who got involved with a girl who was "pregnant". Then again, there was the case where she went in a real roundabout way to find out about her mother - but it didn't get all that unnecessary drama that any other series would most likely have had. So in that matter, it feels different enough despite being pretty much a "high school" series now. |

I, for one am glad to welcome our new loli aunt overlord.
But in all honesty this was all i wanted it to be, simple and heart-warming but at the same time really really good. The whole issue with the "unwanted child" played out very well, and it was quite harrowing when you realise she had noone to congregate to at the funeral - noone to comfort her. I also liked the contrast with the other girl, who was berated by her mother alot but still had alot of the attention from her family. I really liked the simple art style, It also felt realistic in the character interactions and the background music was pretty special too. The voice actress playing Rin is also only 9 years old, which we'll probably hear alot more of in the progressing episodes. But I really like the lack of Dawson's casting there (since I think Rin is supposed to be 6). I could go on for ages writing about this but it'd devolve into a bit of a mess, I just enjoyed this so much. PS; That ED song was glorius |

I thought it was wonderful, the watercolor look of it really captures the feel of the show. Looking forward to watching the whole thing.
Probably going to look around for a copy of the manga too. |
