When I first started buying Manga, I wanted to get as many volumes as possible so I bought them for as little as possible. After getting a few that were in terrible condition and some that used to be in libraries with labels on them, I decided that they had to be new or like new.

Nope. I bought a used manga for 20p or something, and the spine was bent and everything. Trust me, I almost broke down in tears. I prefer most of my things in perfect condition. Now I know never to buy used manga again, even if it is way cheaper.

I don't have a problem with used manga. As long as I can read it, I'll be all right.

One of the reasons for buying manga in the first place in my opinion is to support the author and by buying used manga I am denying the the author of support.

I like buying new manga. But ever since Tokyopop went out of business I have been forced to buy some used because the new ones are being sold at three, four, and five times the normal suggested retail price.

I guess it depends. If it's still near mint or in good conditions, no messed up, then sure!
Some mangas you can't be picky.. like with Emma or Kazan... very rare, so you gotta take what you can find. Fortunately in those cases those mangas are kept brand new.. unfortunately so they can suck all your blood- I mean money- for them. T.T

I don't like buying anything used unless I can look at it and examine it. Textbooks for example, If I am spending hundreds of dollars on textbooks, I want to make sure they don't have ripped pages and isn't marked up like a graffiti wall.

Buying used manga???? What is this in which you speak? I never bought a used manga ever so I guess I prefer new? :o
Its expensive as hell but who doesn't love that fresh smell of the paper, clear white paper and the stiffness of the color. The few times I go to the library to see the manga they have its all yellow and ripped! D:

I usually like to buy new manga but I do sometimes pick up used ones from Half Priced Books. You can find some good deals, like $2.00 in the discount section or if you need to buy something thats outta print. However, I won't buy any of my favorite series used, but I have picked really good stuff that I loved that I might not have bought if it wasn't so cheap!
