How do you feel about buying used manga?
|
I buy used manga whenever I can! <3
Most of the used manga I get is in pretty good shape, but I don't mind if it's a bit rough around the edges. I love new manga, but as I lend them to my friends, they're bound to get worn anyway, no matter how much I try to protect them. ^^; Used manga is also a lot less expensive, so I can get more manga for less money, which is always a good thing in my book! |

I do. If it's series that has been out for a while though I might buy a bulk of used manga. As long as it's cheap and in good condition why not. The only argument I've heard that I don't agree with is buying it out of pity. Supporting the artist is okay, but buying a book if you don't want it because you don't want the artist/publisher to go out of business is just dumb. If you don't like their product why buy the book?

In the end, I have a mix of used/new. When reading - i haven't noticed a difference... |

Depends what the manga is.
I plan to buy all the Akira comics Marvel Published in colour. But you have no choice but to buy the used ones since there's no new prints. |

as long as the pages are not stuck together with unwanted substances. Then I'm ok with it

started reading manga from the small stock of the library so i dont mind used ones.
i feel more relaxed with a second hand one where i dont have to worry about bending/creasing/breaking the spine as they are normally already been worn. making the whole experience more enjoyable. |

I bought several brand new manga for 10 cents each at a street fair near my home.

I tend to buy new. I definitely wouldn't buy used off the internet, but if I saw it in a shop so I knew it was in decent condition I might buy it.
I'm a bit funny about used books in general. I've borrowed books from the library where I've turned the page and there's something stuck there (tends to be food, other times I really don't want to know what it is...) |

I've had hits & misses with used manga. but in the cases of OOP mangas it can be the only way.

I bought used books for years before I started buying manga. There's no way I can afford to buy everything new! So I don't mind used manga either. I'm OK as long as the cover and pages aren't battered and bent.
If it's a series that is currently coming out, I will buy it new (and usually pre-order online), mostly to support the creators/publishers. In terms of quality, I've bought a lot of new manga that are in worse condition than most used manga I find; new books get rough treatment in bookstores. |
