I only buy used when it's out of print. I like the feel of a new book.

I've bought used manga before, if it's still in good condition, I'll buy. I bought Cyborg 009 in used condition (with the exception of vol 10, that one was new), Mushrambo (Shinzo) was in used condition in Japan, looked pretty good except for the musty smell, but that can be taken care of. I do worry that the condition of the manga might be bad like Shirley by Kaoru Mori, it look worn, but it was the cheapest one on Amazon. So I tend to be careful when buying used manga.

it all depends on the price and condition of the manga. i live in chas, SC and there's not a huge manga scene. the only place to buy anything manga affiliated is at books a million and barnes&noble. sometimes if i find the same manga on Amazon.com for a cheaper price, i will look at the condition and buy it; other times its just better to buy it instores because im impatient and want to read it right then.

It depends on how badly I want the manga... And if it's in good shape or not.... If it's damaged, then usually no.... But I've managed to get some used manga that look brand new, not that much of a problem for me I guess?

Since I plan to read them to death, Used is fine by me. Except anything by Takehiko Inoue. (Vagabond or Real). I want to read them as soon as they're translated and own them as soon as they're published.

I Love my iPad manga apps. I buy available favorites and read the rest in scanlations. The Shonen Jump Alpha is great. I don't mind waiting an extra week for their translations, because I'm paying for it, so I know the mangaka gets paid too. I just wish Naver had a translated app! My collections were taking up so much space. Now I can carry my current reading in my purse. I can read it, in bed, in the dark, and it doesn't fall on my face if I fall asleep!

Have always bought used books because I like old things a lot of the time and I have a book and bookstore addiction. But I used to buy "pictures books" new for that crisp, glossy finish since they're special and I tend to keep my books in pristine condition anyway. But now I'm back to buying used if something is out of print, I really need to fill the gaps in a set, or I'm buying a hundred volumes of manga at a time, like last week. The content is still the most important thing, as long as the content is there and not missing pages! Never had bad luck buying used except that time they sent me Samurai Deeper Kyo in a language I couldn't read. Hmmm.

I always buy new unless it's simply not available new. I like having those clean white pages without any stains or tears, and unbent covers and spines. I don't really buy much in brick and mortar stores now, but on the occasions I do, I even go and take the first few copies out and reach for the copies in the back of the shelf to get the best condition I can.

I'm fine with buying used manga as long as it's in good condition. It's far cheaper than buying everything brand new.

Well if its in near perfect condition then of course I'll buy it, but brand new is always better even if it eats my wallet

I buy a lot of used manga from the internet and old books-stores, mostly if they are hard to get as new. The used ones must be in ok condition still, food stains or bent covers = no-no
