I buy used manga all the time!
The only bookstores with affordable prices that are near my house are used bookstores, but I really don't mind, because they only take books that are in good condition
so, with the exception of any manga or anime that I bought at a convention or at Borders before it closed, all of my manga and anime is used.

I prefer to buy new manga mainly because the publisher/mangaka will get paid. If you buy used manga neither the mangaka nor the publisher get paid. This plagues a lot of manga/ game publishers and many smaller publishers go bankrupt due to people buying used. If you can't afford to buy new that's one thing but I think the future of the anime/manga/gaming industry depends on people buying new.

Never buy used myself. Even if publishers eat a god chunk of the margin made off the manga, I'd rather at least something make it back to the artist to let them know how much I enjoyed their work.

I need it brand new! Hahah.
Sometimes I think about all that sweat from the former person's hands & it just freaks me out.
Or if they while they read it they cried or were eating...yeah. lol.

If it's a series that's still ongoing or coming out in bigger volumes I may buy later volumes newer as I can get them for a slightly cheaper price if I pre-order. But as for used manga, I do buy them only if it's marked 'as new' or 'very good' and the seller has a rating above 90%. I do a lot of my manga buying on amazon as I only pay a small $3-$4 shipping + actual book price and no sales tax.

I don't mind used manga. I just won't take any used manga though. I'll only buy it if it has maybe one or two bends in the pages, but no rips of course. I just want to make sure I support the manga so that more of it will be in English.

I prefer it to be new if possible. Although, at times some titles (especailly older titles) are out of print that I have no choice but to buy it used. My brother bought me some used manga when he went to Japan and it almost looked brand new  As long as the manga is not falling apart and it doesn't have any missing pages...I don't mind used manga |

The only reason i buy manga is to support the author So i haven't even though about buying it used But i wouldnt mind doing it, if it was decent condition etc, but i'd rather pay the small amount of money you save to support the author directly instead of just buying a copy which has already benefitted the author |

I don't mind reading used manga but I certainly won't buy used manga as I've seen what happens with them in a library I went to one time.
