I like the show as it's somewhat refreshing that there's a girl lead who is in the lead with absolutely no aspirations to get a guy. I'm finding it hard to believe I have a problem, but he knocks her over and when she lands she's been stripped??!! Exactly did his gynophobia give him the ability to undo every bit of clothing the moment he makes physical contact? Other than that massive leap away from reality I'm going to watch this.

Perverts have magic, you know . We have the ability to turn our genitalia into animal-shaped pictures - Undressing people ain't a problem for us!

Harems will, majority of the time, be like this. Can't really expect much more since the only benefits are usually the female characters, the Oujo-sama being the chick I really dig. Her sadist antics are quite funny.

With her at his house at the end I have a feeling it's going to be somewhat similar to Aria the scarlet ammo.

Here's my review of the thing.
Plot

Kinjirō (aka Spineless Protagonist) goes to a school where the hottest girl Kanade, whom shall be referred to as "Sadist" has a butler who is the hottest guy in school Subaru, who we shall call "Cross Dresser". So Spineless Protagonist ends up walking in on Cross Dresser and finds out that she was well, cross dressing. Then after a short battle and him getting beaten up, he wakes up in the school's nurse office where Sadist has chained him to the bed, and will only let him go if he agree's to not tell anyone about Cross Dresser's secret. That's the first episode. That story can be told in 5 minutes! So the rest of the 20 minutes are padded to the maximum, with unfunny jokes and boring scenes, that I could really care less about.

First Impression

Let me start off by telling you why this anime was doomed to fail. The focal point for this anime's plot is that Subaru has to pretend to be a guy. And yet other than her voice, she looks nothing like a guy. Would you like to know why that is? Well I will tell you. It is because she will star in ecchi scenes, and if she looked too much like a guy, the anime would be tip-toeing on the line of apparent homosexuality. And that's not to mention that fact that the main character is accused of being gay several times in the first episode, but he is apparently not, and is afraid of girls because of Anime Plot Contrivance # 276- "A guy/girl is allergic to the opposite sex, and when they touch him/her he/she breaks out in an allergic reaction."

What a charming way to give exposition, wouldn't you agree? Also this is Anime Plot Contrivance #38- Kids raising themselves due to irresponsible/dead parents.

Ugg moving on to the Op and Ed. The Op and Ed alike were both forgettable, but I did somewhat enjoy the background music.

The animation in the show is OK, especially considering how little funding the anime must have gotten when the studio actually read the plot.

Now let's talk about the characters. They are generic as all heck. I will reiterate what I said in the description. A weak wimpy spineless Protagonist, a Sadist, and a Tsundere Cross Dresser.

Now let me talk a little about spineless wimpy weak protagonists for a second. I hate them. I hate them and everything they stand for, and for some reason I can't get away from them. There freaking everywhere! Especially in ecchi comedies where the males are saints who don't have any sexual desires to speak of, and that makes it all the more "entertaining" when the girls inevitably throw themselves at him, and they are ALWAYS so freaking boring!!! That's one of the many reasons Sora no Otoshimono is my favorite anime.

The protagonist Tomoki is a pervert, he will freely admit he is a pervert and he will go to extreme lengths to be a pervert. Since I'm reviewing a cross dressing anime, I'm going to go off on a tangent and look at episode 11 of season 1 to help you see what I'm talking about. Tomoki wakes up with a random desire one day to go inside the woman's bathhouse. So he then tells his friends he wants to go to the local bathhouse and it's obvious he's going to use one of Ikaros' "magic" cards to peep on them. Sohora being 3 steps ahead of Tomoki confiscates all of his cards before hand, so they can bathe in peace. Then as a last-ditch effort attempt he goes to Suguta and gives a hilarious speech about how the New World he is looking for might be found in the woman's bath, because they have never been able to explore it. Suguta then giving in to his plan, shows him a card he got from Ikaros in episode 3. The card creates a machine called the Quantum Transformation Device. Tomoki then shows up in the next scene as his female alter-ego Tomoko, who I'm sad to say is probably one of the cutest girls ever to be seen in anime.

But that's not all! He then (shown in the credits) goes on a training mission to master all the normal movements and formalities girls use on a day-to-day basis that differ from males so he can be a convincing girl. But that's not all! He then goes to school for a day to gain the others' trust befriending Sohora and Mikako so they let him/her tag along with them to the bathhouse. Then finally when he gets there, Tomoki goes on a perverted rampage, complete with laser beams coming from his eyes!

Now you must be saying to yourself "Well he must be a one-dimensional character who's only point in the show is to be a pervert right?" Wrong! He knows when it's appropriate to be perverted and when to get serious. He does this a lot but some of the best examples can be found in S1 Ep 13 and S2 Ep 8. I also want to point out that in the SAME episode (read those words again) he manages to have crucial-to-the-plot character development with Ikaros. Tomoki has manged to breathe life into a role that was completely lifeless, and his character is one of the MANY reasons I love SnO so much.

What should you, and anime creators alike take away from this? Make male protagonists more interesting, and not saints who are trying to struggle through life on a day-to-day basis.

Well now that I have that out of my system lets finish the review shall we?

Final★☆☆☆☆

The anime is boring, dull, and generic in every possible definition of the word. It has only a giant katamari of plot contrivances to its name, and frankly it is not worth your time. If you want a similar and better show go watch Maria Holic, if you want a show about gender bending go watch Ranma 1/2, and if you want to watch the best freaking anime EVER go watch Sora no Otoshimono!

epiosde two is out if anyone cares and they did tone the ecchi elements a bit, however it seems they are going to focus more on the love story side of the plot but for those that can not get past the first epiosde don't even bother.

Honestly, yes this anime is pretty cliched, but ignore that and it's actually pretty good, surprised me too. Plus it's funny as hell

It's a guilty pleasure, I guess. Plus, I love how the two main character's relationship is going. It's kinda cute, honestly.

i am acutally enjoying due in part that the female lead is actually enjoyable and flat out is willing to adimt she likes him. Hell I didn't think japan have the balls left to do a series like that after 2007

I'm with you there, buddy. It's always the typical tsunderes or "Lusty, full blown-out whores." Both of which are very irritating (In general, there's a few rare cases where they can actually ADD to the show, without detracting from it.)
