So I've come to realize there are some truly awesome JRPGs that are out in Europe but not the states.... Thus I must pose a question and I apologize if it is common knowledge... For if it is, it eludes me.....

Can you play European games on an American PS3 (legally)? I ask because I've recieved conflicting info on the matter.... Some have told me yes so long as it is an HD televsion.... some have told me no..... Some have said it depends on the system model.... and I just can't seem to discern a straight answer.........

I currently have two seperate PS3 models at my disposal, one of which is a launch model with the PS2 backward compatablity and the other an older fatty model without the BC.

Any info would be greatly appreciated
