Its made by CLAMP and Production I.G. studios and some of the creators of Blood+ and Blood the Last Vampire yet isn't a sequel to those 2 animes as far as I can tell. The story revolves around a high school girl named Saya Kisaragi who is a shrine maiden and her father is the priest of the shrine they own. Her personality is that of a overly kind yet clumsy girl and she meditates and trains at her shrine daily. At night however her father sends her out with a sword in order to slay demons as part of her training and duty.

The first episode didn't progress too much in the way of a story but it did a good job of establishing the main character. You can definitely see CLAMP's style with this anime. I know this anime was going to have some demon slaying in it but i was still a bit surprised to see Saya take on a demon as you just don't expect her to be able to fight. I think the anime is good so far and will hopefully get better as the story picks up.

I thought this franchise was about vampires.

First episode didn't wow me. I'll give it a few more weeks to pick up, but not really expecting much.

Like the Blood franchise and like CLAMP. Was really hoping it'd be good but the first episode just sucked. Saya being a stupid klutz was bad enough but the fight toward the end was stupid. Overall I was really disappointed. So much so that I honestly don't know if I want to even bother watching the second episode. Think if I want to watch something good I can just go and re watch Blood+.

That summary matched my thoughts exactly. I'm always ready to watch a CLAMP based anime.

Basically Blood-C is about this:

A high school girl who is a miko on her spare time, she likes cute things and being helpful so much that she is very often late for school. Her hobbies are cleaning trash in the streets, hugging animals or trying to resist doing so, trying to see a light in her head while sleeping at work is also an important hobby of hers, oh and cutting Buddha statues to pieces while they trash her.

And she is in love with her father, as he is the only male figure she has more than brief contact with.

Her idol is Forrest Gump, as she can be seen running for like forever in the first episode.

Oh right! Almost forgot to mention - her school uniform has those typical "vampire" colours, black and red - and her hair looks like black wings. In before fan art where she has black wings.

After finishing watching the first episode, one item that stuck out in my mind is that from the moment Saya leaves school until she arrives home, we don't see another human being. There is no one around the school, the streets in town are deserted, and I didn't notice anyone in the shops she walked past.

Also, the "clumsy, but good at athletics" just doesn't mesh, but it is not as if other anime have not ignored such realities.

Well, I enjoyed the first episode. Blood-C is one series I will continue watching, since the first episode was really good. I even loved the "klutziness" of Saya in this story.

i think the jury is still out on this one for me. It wasn't... bad... it just didn't knock my socks off. sound track was mediocre. not sure if I like the clamp 'noodlebodies' this time around. And so far the only connection it has with the blood franchise is "Saya! Fight!" I know I know alternate continuity but... why is it saya in name only or blood in name only?

I thought it was "okay". I liked the episode, but haven't warmed up to this version of Saya yet. I remember when + came out, I felt the same way when I compared that Saya to the one from the movie...but in the end I really liked that Saya. I guess we just have to give it more time.

At first I didn't really like it. Saya just seemed like this mass of cliches. Clumsy, Meganae, Moe girl.

but as I watched it the inconsistencies started to set in.

She's clumsy, yet super athletic
Her friends talk about how she is always late because she's helping lost kids or grandmas on the way to school, yet the area she walks through is a ghost town.
She has a caring father who worries about her hurting her face, yet as soon as she is home it's off to fight monsters.

and then there is that moment when she has to give back the sword, she is all happy and smiling waiting for father to praise her, but she doesn't want to let the sword go, and that flicker of light passes by her consciousness once more.

There is a Lie here.
A huge Trueman Show level lie.

Agree the anime has a alot of inconsistency's first episode had a slow start but the fight at the end was pretty damn cool and got straight to the point with any useless banter slowing it down. I'm going to keep watching i wish it was also here on cruncyroll the show would be better in 720p hopefully nico premium service will increase the video quality to something more acceptable and having to pay for true full screen is pretty bs but at least its ad free for now.
