Though this just looks like a mutual exchange of ranting rather than discussion, I shall still give my input. You need to realize that all societies have been using words from foreign languages they don't speak fluently within their own native language for not just "a long time" but a really long time potentially measured in the thousands of years (except times and places where law or religion prohibits foreign words)...............

You are way more eloquent than I could be.

Everything they said. I tend to say "baka" and "kawaii" in my head, unintentionally. I know other japanese words, but I don't use those. Those two just happen to have sounds which express my feelings better than their english counterparts. Kawaii even has a little built in "eeee!" at the end of it, which is way closer to how I feel and act when I think something is adorable than "cute".

Weeaboos. I believe I'm not the first person to say that in this thread.

They are a disgrace IMO. If you enjoy sticking these words and other similarly unimaginative Japanese sentence constructs like "DESU~" in your sentences and all the while munching on pocky like it's some sort of heavenly manna, I highly suggest you sterilize yourself.

Either that or find some other similarly deranged chap (who you'll probably call Sasuke) and elope to some foreign land where your neighbors are ninjas and you can cook your breakfast by the sheer force of your chakra.

you just found random people saying those words while speaking in english or something? lol thats funny. guaranteed its a word you hear often but it does sound a little weird. im someone who knows how to speak read and write japanese so its weird to me when i hear people saying only a couple of words that they get from anime. a lot of my japanese friends say the same thing but to each is their own and at least those people can say they know some japanese!!! thats how you learn ^_^ word by word

WEEABOO POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've met one weeaboo and one boderline weeaboo. They do come off as irritating when they over do it, but they're as equally as bad as English kids trying to copy American accents and trying to act like the stuff they watch on MTV and all those other teen drama. Seriously more teens try and imitate crappy teen drama and shit shows like Jersey shore....they wish their life was like that!. I think there's more people like that than weeaboos and tbh I'd rather put up with the weeaboos.

They're just weeaboos. They're a joke. Annoying, disgusting, pathetic. Ignore them I heard it's contagious..

I find it awkward when people speak one Japanese word and then talk in English. Either talk in Japanese or English. I sometimes say Baka only the word alone or I use kawaii too. But not like wow this is so kawaii.

Yes, but do you want to be Japanese?

No, I don't want to BE Japanese. I DO want to know as much as I can about the place, the people, the customs...but I CAN'T be Japanese, so I don't want to be. I do not attempt to be Japanese; I don't throw Japanese words into my daily conversations. I have, on occassion, explained the Japanese qualivalent to a word, such as BAKA, or KAWAII, or even SUGOI...but no, I don't want to be Japanese. I think I respect the Japanese people too much to make ME one of them.

While any person in any language might do this to another language, English has made it an art of butchering foreign words. Even our native words get corrupted. For instance, the definitions of dog and hound originally were switched.

At an anime convention a while back I heard multiple people talking and throwing words like kawaii and baka into their sentences. WHY?! It sounds sooooooooo stupid.

Didn't find a duplicate thread w/ search delete this if there is one.
