Spike Lee to do Oldboy remake

It looks like Spike Lee will be remaking Old Boy according to this article:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.co.uk/news/2011-07-11/director-spike-lee-signs-onto-oldboy-film-remake

I particularly don't like the idea of a remake seeing as how it doesn't NEED to be remade. It was a stunning film and people should see the Korean version for themselves. I think it was Oldboy that caught my interest in foreign films and if it weren't for that I probably wouldn't seen a bunch of other good stuff.

(Also love it when people watch it because I pester them to)

Gee, I wonder how Spike Lee is going to handle this film....

So what are your thoughts on this news?

Oh yeah for people who dunno what Oldboy is (I recommend you watch it...NOW!)

Remakes of Asian films are for people who can't read.

Why would Spike Lee do Oldboy? It's not his kind of movie. It don't make sense. The original is fantastic. I don't mind Spike Lee doing it because it could turn out decent, but I don't get why.

What the fuck is Oldboy lol. Bottom line; you don't have to watch it. And there's a lot of things being remade and adapted, this isn't super special just because you liked the original.

Tch. They're going to ruin it. Americans always ruin it, it's just like how they killed Dragonball. -.-

Actually, The Departed was a US remake of an Asian film (forgot the name), it was amazing, I highly recommend it. (But then again anything Martin Scorcese touches is amazing)

*shrugs* I'm being biased. But ehh. We'll just wait and see how it turns out.
