Well... at least you've got grandparents.

Bigoted, old folk passed their bigotry on to new generations filled with the negativity of hate. They create only suffering.

I like old, racist grandmas. My granmammy, who's from Sinaloa, tells me to stay away from black boys and to marry a nice white man. She even died her hair blond and calls herself Christina (her name's Maria)!

I also know a ninety eight year old German man, he's pretty annoying. He denies the Holocaust and tells me what to eat ("You eat wheat grass!? You can live off wheat grass! Eat wheatgrass! >insert 30 minute speech about wheatgrass<")

My grandpappy on my mom's side is a homophobe. Thing is, he has 3 gay nephews, and he pretends they don't exist. His family is really beautiful and some of the nicest people you will ever meet, but he pretends they don't exist for this sole reason. My grandma on this side also hates blacks, and criticizes my mom for marrying a Mexican. They both also have old fashioned gender roles. My grandmammy doesn't like me hitting on boys not because she wants me to save myself for marriage but because "boys are supposed to get girls". Also thinks going out with someone means you are married to them. She's also homophobic and hates one of my friends, who's a lesbian and does kinda have "the look". She once visited (her house is by my familys'), and my grandmammy freaked out and screamed, "There's a lesbian in the house!" Fortunately, my friend just laughed it off, but seriously who does that?

That's my gandparents.

If it wasn't for obsolete things, we'd never improve.

Heheheh, well... to put it in retrospect at the very least.

I don't think my grandmother has ever seen any race other than Korean and Japanese (when they invaded my country)

Okay, so... your profile says you're 110, and your grandparents are still alive? Wow, that's incredibly long-lived! :P

Seriously, and on topic, my grandparents, no. But I do know my brother is that way. He's been fine accepting every aspect of me thus far, but I think there'd be a mini war if I found a black boyfriend. (And that'd be his problem.) I'm personally of the thought that race matters nothing- it's part of my total equality belief.

My Grandad is racist but he's also a hypocrite as he married my Grandmother who's Japanese -__- I do tell him to "Get with the times!" because he's also homophobic. Meh they grew up in a time where racism/homophobia was tabooed. Like Walt Disney.

My maternal grandma is a racist (but I really like her, don't get me wrong). My mom's family members tend to be racists, at least until 7 or so years ago. My dad's side is pretty open minded though, and fortunately that's the side I resemble the most.

yeah somethin like that....my dads side of the family are racist since they happen to be Portuguese descendent living in latinamerica ,so they have the need to act arrogant when compare to indigenous mexicans .....they're a complete drag in that sense GOOD THING I DONT LIVE IN MEXICO NO MORE

Hahahah!

My great aunt is scared of black people. So it's probably best I don't visit her since I'm not sure if she can cope with a mixed race.

Yeah, mine are old fashioned. Truly old fashioned. Not quite used to change with what they're used to.

I live in my grandparents second house right up the hill from them. Just a short walk through a field to their house. I see them everyday. My grandfather is my best friend... But trying to teach him any differently than what he thinks he knows is impossible... He's so... ignorant. Love him though. My grandmother is the best. She is open about everything. Not to mention she's a total babe for 70.
