Well, I have a lot of respect for those that are older than me, especially the elderly. My dad's parents are still alive and so is my mom's parents. Hell, I even have 2 great grandparents, one from my dad's side, and one from my mom's side, they are both nearly 90 years old.

They are very nice person. =]
I love them with all my heart.

I like old, racist grandmas. My granmammy, who's from Sinaloa, tells me to stay away from black boys and to marry a nice white man. She even died her hair blond and calls herself Christina (her name's Maria)!

I also know a ninety eight year old German man, he's pretty annoying. He denies the Holocaust and tells me what to eat ("You eat wheat grass!? You can live off wheat grass! Eat wheatgrass! >insert 30 minute speech about wheatgrass<")

My grandpappy on my mom's side is a homophobe. Thing is, he has 3 gay nephews, and he pretends they don't exist. His family is really beautiful and some of the nicest people you will ever meet, but he pretends they don't exist for this sole reason. My grandma on this side also hates blacks, and criticizes my mom for marrying a Mexican. They both also have old fashioned gender roles. My grandmammy doesn't like me hitting on boys not because she wants me to save myself for marriage but because "boys are supposed to get girls". Also thinks going out with someone means you are married to them. She's also homophobic and hates one of my friends, who's a lesbian and does kinda have "the look". She once visited (her house is by my familys'), and my grandmammy freaked out and screamed, "There's a lesbian in the house!" Fortunately, my friend just laughed it off, but seriously who does that?

That's my gandparents.

lol sounds almost like my family.idk if my grandparents are quite that bad tho.

Egh, my family consists of French (the French are, culturally, douches) and Mexican immigrants (Mexicans are racist in their own way).

My grandfather used to build tanks for the People's Liberation Army for China.
To this day, he still practises basic Wushu and Tai Chi daily. Not just the slow fluid movements, but blades and fans as well.

My grandparents on my mother's side are awesome. They're the nicest people in the world, raised me to be a gentleman and are so mellow it's insane. My grandfather is someone I really look up to even now. I do know a lot of old people who are just stupid racists or whatever but same goes for other people way younger than them. It depends on the person rather than the age I think. Granted, they were raised in completely different times so their views on the world will be different from ours. Still, I think there's a lot to learn from them. Back when patience was something most people had and respect was given to those who deserved it instead of envy, etc.

They're generally very stable people (my grandparents,) and I like that because I know what to expect. I don't see them all that often so it doesn't get boring for me.
On the other hand, I hate it when their views are so different from mine and, instead of letting it go, they lecture me for it. =_=

My grandparents are racist. It's not bad or anything, but it was how they were raised.

Also, my grandmother is a hoarder. She keeps almost everything she gets and her house is full of crap. It's not as serious as it is on the TV shows, but she still is a hoarder. One time, when I was leaving her house on a visit, she gave my mom all of this food just to help her out or something, and there was a box of mac and cheese that was older than I was (I was 11 at the time).

After that, I always make sure to check the food that she gives me.

You seem to have a knack for starting topics without much description with regard to your OWN inputs on the topic. How exactly are your parents "old school" and "racist"? Did they say something that, in your modern way of thinking, found racist or just too conservative to swallow? Just a friendly tip for not just this forum, but for other forums as well.

Anyway, BTT - some of the geezers in my family tend to have their own biases because they came from the post war era. I personally find it racist for them to call the Japanese "japs" and continuously berate them - but I can't blame them. The Japanese literally shat (past tense for shit) on our country and left it in shambles at the wake of the war (and yeah, so did America. God bless America) - so any resentment is granted, albeit out of place.

Yes, they did say something. The reason why I didn't put more input on this topic is because I would like to not repeat what they said. I was just curious if people on the form had grandparents that sometimes are the same. Also, I usually do give more input on my forms you just happen to find the 2 I didn't.
